Finally! A rumor to smile at! Its been so dead I was beginning to give up hope. Translation Legend of Terms: Partially found: Nothing found. Maybe Found: Nothing found. Recovered: 2 Hartnells (rumor a year ago) Nothing found. Found: Nothing Found Truly found: Statement taken out of context--Nothing found. Omnirumor: Something found and announced--therefore--THERE HIDING SOMETHING! Omniconsparicy: The Beep never actually lost them and are just trying to generate hype and drum up business Bottom line, most likley nothing found, but, something, somewhere might exist <=fodder for new rumor.....

If I remember correctly it was on one of the tapes of the recordists, but a lower quality version (not G.S.'s work). I don't believe it was ever released in audio format. Correct me if I am mistaken.

I believe the amount of DW ME trollers would find it quickly, alert the community and whether or not the auction completed, the BBC would be all over it.

Rest in Peace Victoria.
Its sad that with the missing episodes they are now beginning to quickly pass beyond living memory.

I think Power has all named characters represented in telesnaps bar a few extras who speak background bits (the meeting in the rocket room for example), but I think there are a few sets and backdrops lost to time. I have always wanted to see the piece in EP 1 where the Doctor encounters the rock and measures it, it seems very odd... very odd indeed.

Time Meddler gets my vote as it was one of the first B&W's i saw in the late 1980s on an Nth Generation VHS copy my older brother got his hands on. As I recall it was in EP/SLP speed not having all episodes or even in order. The first Hartnell I ever saw. The serial that made me fall in love with B&W Dr Who!

Thank you!
Interesting. "Spare print" could mean anything, knowing PM's vague statements. A different show entirely, another DW print of extant material (most likely), a missing orphan episode (not likely but, if so, likely an installment of snowman or wheel). I hope we find out. I seemed to have missed this first time around.

Something else I've just remembered ... when first making the WOF3 revelation, Phil also stated that there was an additional tape and that the station manager took this too. Perhaps significantly, he elected not comment on its identify or its fate. Will be interesting to eventually discover what that was and whether the same fan/collector who snaffled WOF3 also snaffled this additional tape. I've been reviewing PM interviews last night, cant seem to find that tid bit. Any chance you can provide a link? (Not doubting the veracity, just wanting to review it) Thankx in advance!

Rolled 3rd got 15 again... MTTU--location Australia (1). Rolled again (4th) got 15.... MTTU--Private collector (0). So, that accounts for 2 overseas prints and an extra viewing copy (1 Australia and 2 from private collectors--one must be from Singapore). Couldn't help it rolled again (5th) got 28 DESTRUCTION OF TIME!!! Location --Private Collector (RNG seems to like pulling Zeros). My personal most wanted episode. Rather than tempt fate, im not going to roll for a 6th.

applying criteria of point of origin, Ice Warriors 2 from Zambia (incidentally, I'd still like to know more theories/ideas on the fate of prints from there) and Mission to the unknown from a private collector.

I just tried this again (because I think it is the most entertaining thread that hasn't entailed a recovery and I am bored, lol!) and I got the Space pirates episode 2. Freaky! So that is 2 consecutive episodes from the space pirates (is this an omen )and also somewhat related to my avatar if anyone knows what I mean! Space Pirates Ep 2? Me thinks that exists.... does it not? 93 is ep 1, I believe.

Spoken jokingly (I hope).
I believe personally it was taken by a collector who will take care of it.... BUT.... it could have been taken by someone knowing nothing about preservation, just taking it for perceived value--keeping it in a nice, warm, airtight, moist, safe place where it can appreciate in value.....

I don't think financial leverage would work; a legal firestorm would likely follow.
Probably taken for a private collection (which there *might* be other missing gems), or taken opportunistically and is now sitting, degrading in somebody's safety-deposit-closet.
Either way, fingers crossed--patience is essential.
