In Australia, you had to prove you were a ratepayer to dump rubbish, otherwise there'd be a fee to pay depending on the type of rubbish. That would be it for paperwork. Usually one of the tip workers had scavenging rights, and you had to get permission from them to remove items that had been dumped. I love rescuing things from rubbish, by the way! Has anyone ever tried to contact tip workers in Australia or New Zealand to see if any of them used their "scavenging rights" to pass on any episodes to collectors?A long shot but still worth pursuing.

I realise that this is slightly off topic but i am trying to get dvd covers for Doctor Who classic stories but cannot download anything the size of such covers.Does anyone have any ideas? I would be happy to have them posted to me and pay someone for their trouble if only i can find someone!

I'd stress that we are looking for black and white recordings otherwise you'd get lots of 1980's colour programmes false alarms (or are there many colour shows also missing?).

If they are going to release DVDs for next 4 years then maybe they will announce that they are going to animate ALL missing episodes! (one can but dream.......)

Seems it's only Black and White but its already got bids of over £100 with 5 days to go.I wonder how much a missing one would go for?

Rather than inventing a time machine, wouldn't it be easier to invent a TV that could see into the past (ie BBCIPLAYER +50 years).Problem solved!

If more than 1 company is doing the animations then it could mean more will be released in a shorter time period if each company works on a different story at the same time.106 missing but 7 now being animated so less than 100 left!

If i can get the BBC to at least consider making a missing episodes programme then it should be possible for our readers in Australia and New Zealand to persuade their tv companies to do the same.Any volunteers?

.........until then we could at least animate some of them.I imagine that the "World exclusive" was going to be the animation of TP4 ,but he then spoiled it by announcing it a week early!

A couple of months ago i wrote to the BBC suggesting that they do a "treasure hunt" style programme to publicise the hunt for missing episodes. I have now had a reply which states that they think that the idea might be suitable for a segment on THE ONE SHOW and have therefore passed my suggestion on to them.I will keep you informed if there are any further developments.

Surely it would make more sense to release 10th planet and power separately to maximise the revenue.

Was that in the "paper" Guardian or just an online version?

As we already have the cast and the script, it would not be impossible to do a re-imagination of Marco Polo for transmission on the episodes 50th birthday next February. The cost would be less than the new series as it was studio produced and would probably sell quite well on DVD.I suggest that we all write to the BBC to make such a suggestion.I would hope that it would be the full 7 episodes without any condensing but would this go down well with today's audience along with it's lack of SF plot?
