I mentioned this in another thread but thought I'd make a proper thread for it: With the 'mysterious' footage on the Planet 55 website ( planet55studios.com.au/) depicting Lesterson freaking out (probably from ep 5), does anyone think we'll get a condensed-yet-animated recon for The Power of the Daleks on the upcoming DVD for The Tenth Planet? If 2Entertain have a budget for up to 2 animated episodes per DVD then we might be able to get an extra covering Troughton's first story. I doubt it would be a big one, similar to scope to the Marco Polo recon on The Beginning box set. Just a thought. But if I'm right I called it here first.

I don't think Dan Hall is particularly fond of recons after seeing what the animations are like. The only reason we are seeing the Galaxy Four recon of episodes 1, 2, and 4 is because episode 3 was found. He commissioned the Galaxy Four recon and instead of releasing it as an extra, it sat on the shelf gathering dust for God knows how long. It would still be on a shelf gathering dust if Airlock was never found.

Not even a 30-minute condensed version?
And I don't mean using tele-snaps I mean just an animation which largely ignores what exists, camera direction, studio limitations, etc.
The Dalek production line could be made to look so much better in CGI rather than Shawcraft models.

Brad. I thought I called it first Lols
I'm as curious as the rest of the Board to find out what's going down with this one. Especially with the ratio of film to animation that 2 Ent works with.

I don't see them spending 50,000 or more on just one extra for a DVD release. They are probably going to animate the other stories that are missing two or less episodes first.

Episode 1 of Power found and the rest animated....?Oh,and by the way,why does the footage of Dan Hall with his colleagues at Gallifrey One remind me of Leonardo De Vinci's Last Supper ?

Having watched that video, I really can't understand why they're being so coy about the Ice Warriors DVD release. Either they're doing a 'telesnap style' recon or they're not! So what is there to be coy about?:
1) They've found 2 & 3 2) They're releasing UM2 3) They want people to believe 1 or 2
I hate this. If they know what they're going to do, why not just announce it?

If they aren't animating The Ice Warriors, sending out episode 2 of The Underwater Menace on August 26th would be interpreted by some fans that they are not going to animate either story. If they have episodes 2 and 3, there is no need for the telesnap recon from 1998. At the Whovention in Australia next weekend, Dan Hall has what is being called a "world exclusive." With all the rumors out there and the upcoming announcement by Dan Hall has some fans in a frenzy. We should know more about the upcoming DVD releases at that time, or at least I hope we know more.

We're being teased, I'm sure. The Lesterson animation suggests "Watch this space, it's something to do with Power Of The Daleks". I wouldn't bet on it, though.

Well, if they don't do something at least to the standard of the animations in Invasion, Reign and Tenth Planet, and do go with the same style filler as on VHS, I for one will be extremely disappointed, and feel extremely let down after following this range of DVD's from the start. Of course they're not going to let us down though are they

Perhaps they'll link "Ice Warriors" with a comic strip. I'd love that, and it'd be cheaper to do. Get Brian Bolland on it.

It's a bit of a puzzler, I think you can say no full annimation we would have heard about it being commissioned. And they said the video segment would be on the disc anyway, which made it sound more of an extra. Perhaps they are trying out something new?
I suppose the most likely is a longer reconstruction. Maybe though just say that, are they worried about the reaction to no annimation?

We've only just heard about Tenth Planet so ...maybe Power of the Daleks soon? It's remarkably quiet around here at the moment. I would've thought there was more of a buzz about this? I have to admit I'm an infrequent poster but there's a tumbleweed rolling through here at the moment.
