With the 50 th anniv. publicity ready to cut in,now would be a good time to consider how we could publicise the fact that there may be up to 106 missing Doctor Who episodes lying undiscovered or discarded in the lofts of households both in the UK and countries abroad where the programme was shown. Does anyone have any contacts who could arrange for articles to appear in national newspapers both here and abroad giving interesting snippets re previous finds and also details of an orginisation to whom contact could be made were anything interesting found? I would also recommend that a small "finders fee" should be offered by this organisation so that people will have an incentive to actually go and look in their (and elderly relatives) lofts. I would be happy to contribute towards such a finders fee but first we would need to agree upon a suitable organisation (BBC would presumably not be in favour of paying so it would have to be an independent group who could be trusted not to keep any finds to themselves) to whom contact should be made should anything of interest be found. There has also never been a better time to lobby for a special "Treasure Hunt" style TV programme to be broadcast next year.Again, does anyone know how to do such lobbying?

As someone who was not a member of this forum a year ago, could someone tell me what was happening in the week before MBW 2011?Was there any rumours re a find or did it come completely out of the blue that 2 missing episodes had been found?

Perhaps New Zealand broadcast repeats of Troughton episodes at a later date?

It would be interesting if there was a page devoted to recent hoaxes, misinformation, false rumours, and leads that led nowhere. Don't blame Jack, it's easy to be hoodwinked over something when you really hope it's true.

British Library (newspaper library) in Colindale will have a copy of every newspaper printed in S.Leone.

Get WIPED by Richard Molesworth, that will tell you all you need to know about what happened to the missing episodes (interesting reference to DALEK MASTERPLAN EP 4 on page 86).Also all those episides certified as destroyed by overseas broadcasters like Australia which may have been kept instead unofficially.

If somethings been found already, surely the BBC wouldn't wait till Nov 2013 to announce it as they would want to issue it on DVD by then to cash in on the 50th anniv.(As the last 2 recoveries were made a year ago and still have not seen the light of day, i would imagine any announcement would be made this year).

Another idea, how about a couple of lines in the personal column of a national daily (Telegraph or Guardian ) on the lines of "OLD B/W BBC FILMS WANTED,FINDERS FEE PAID, PHONE......"

Simply prepare a flyer saying that a collector will pay good money for any old films, give contact details and then post through the letterboxes in your area.Or get a distribution company to do it for you thus covering a larger area (how much would a national distribution cost?) .Probably has a better chance of success than spending money putting an advert in a S.Leone newspaper.

Didn't it disappear after being loaned to Blue Peter, presumably kept by someone as a souvenir of the regeneration.I therefore suspect (hope) that it is still out there, probably lying forgotten in someones loft.

I'm sure Tenth Planet (4) is still out there hoarded by a "collector".
