Have hope all Doctor Who fans. Somewhere, out there, someone has a copy of all the missing Doctor Who episodes. BBC has to retrace its steps to find out who they shipped episodes to. They made this monumental mistake and now they are going crazy trying to correct the mistake that they made in 1963! I have copies of Patrick Troughton's THE INVASION where they inserted animation in the episode along with the footage. I think they did an excellent job and kudos to the team who did it. Perhaps they should consider doing it with the rest of the missing episodes? Just a suggestion, since they did such an excellent job. Keep restoring guys! Don't give up hope! Whovians Worldwide, keep up the search!

Have hope all Doctor Who fans. Somewhere, out there, someone has a copy of all the missing Doctor Who episodes. Nice bit of pop positivity there, but how do you know that? BBC has to retrace its steps to find out who they shipped episodes to. They made this monumental mistake and now they are going crazy trying to correct the mistake that they made in 1963! What was the mistake they made in 1963? If only we had those records of what they destroyed and what they sent to where! If only... Well, your friend's Dad has half of them, doesn't he...? ;D

If only we had those records of what they destroyed and what they sent to where! If only... They do, such records were featured in a recent issue of DWM.

Whovians Worldwide, keep up the search! Has DWM just released an article on missing episodes or something? That is both a genuine question and a joke at the same time! ;D Anyhow. I'd suggest reading up on the topic a bit, both on the site and elsewhere. You'll find that the situation isn't quite what you believe it to be and that many people on this site are already on the case as it were and wish it were nearly as straightforward as you suggest!

Get WIPED by Richard Molesworth, that will tell you all you need to know about what happened to the missing episodes (interesting reference to DALEK MASTERPLAN EP 4 on page 86).Also all those episides certified as destroyed by overseas broadcasters like Australia which may have been kept instead unofficially.

Get WIPED by Richard Molesworth, that will tell you all you need to know about what happened to the missing episodes. 'Wiped' is currently out of print. So it might be worth waiting until it's back in print to get a copy, assuming there aren't cheap ones on eBay.

So, what episodes did BBC enterprises junk? Because I want to know! There is this magical invention called the Internet where you can find out this information. Given that you're using it on this forum, it doesn't require much more effort, if not less effort than asking on here to type in 'doctor who missing episodes' on a search engine of your choice!

So, what episodes did BBC enterprises junk? Because I want to know! They junked all but 48 episodes broadcast between 1963 and 1969. There's a list at this site that'll tell you what episodes were held by the BBC film library: unlimitedricepudding.com/MissingWhoList.html#LibraryThey were supposed to hold 53. For some reason, five were destroyed and one went missing after being loaned to Blue Peter.

So if episode 4 of masterplan went missing there is more of a chance that it's out there compared to other episodes??

So if episode 4 of masterplan went missing there is more of a chance that it's out there compared to other episodes?? To get that sort of information you need Jon Preddle's work. Bing ! "Paging Mr Jon Preddle, would Mr Preddle from Down Under please pick up the white courtesy phone." He's looked at when and where stories were broadcast and worked out, knowing that they were frequently "bicycled" between broadcasters in different countries, how many prints would have been needed.
