A couple of months ago i wrote to the BBC suggesting that they do a "treasure hunt" style programme to publicise the hunt for missing episodes. I have now had a reply which states that they think that the idea might be suitable for a segment on THE ONE SHOW and have therefore passed my suggestion on to them.I will keep you informed if there are any further developments.

Fantastic work, well done. I'm glad the BBC listened, did something about it and got back to you. Fingers crossed!

Well that's a better response than I was expecting. To be fair, I can see how it would fall into their remit quite nicely, and I suspect they'll have some Who stuff in the pipeline for November anyway.
Good work!

You know, i did some research and i learned that the 1 show has an average of 5 million views, so that will definitely bring out the message!

If i can get the BBC to at least consider making a missing episodes programme then it should be possible for our readers in Australia and New Zealand to persuade their tv companies to do the same.Any volunteers?

As long as they make it clear that it isn't just Doctor Who that is missing episodes. I'd hate for someone to see the item and then think "Oh, those four 'Quatermass Experiment' cans in the attic aren't Dr Who, so I'll bin them". The missing episodes problem goes well beyond DW, even beyond the BBC, but that rarely gets a mention...

Good point. Of course, the word 'episode' in itself suggest serials,or doesn't it?

Not really a market over here. It's a niche thing, and recently the scrapped charter means TVNZ are more interested in making crap programmes that will by watched by the many, rather than interesting programmes watched by the few. It would have to be a fan driven production with zero budget that could be sold to a network as the only way of getting made, but don't expect it to screen outside of the 2am-5am time frame.

There's a message in there for all the BBC nay-sayers. I think a short article on the One Show is exactly the sort of thing they would excel at.
