That's very interesting Graham. The database would seem to indicate that this edition does indeed survive.

Ah, is it going to come out on Region 2, Paul? I might hold off for now then as it'll just be NTSC VT conversions of some of the PAL material. I don't believe so Laurence. This is a european release and there is no UK release sheduled at the moment.

It Seems that these were made between 1974 and 1976. One or two of these are similar to some Supersonic performances but have different camera angles, no audience and are miming to the song rather than the 'semi-live' supersonic perfoarmances. Here are some of the one's i've identified so far. T.Rex - New York City Status Quo - Down Down Suzi Quatro - I May Be Too Young Smokie - Dont Play Your Rock´n Roll To Me Chris Spedding - Motor Biking Nazareth - Holy Roller David Cassidy - Tomorrow Gilbert O´Sullivan - Doing What I Know Sailor - Glass Of Champagne Kiki Dee - Once A Fool Mud - L L Lucy Alvin Stardust - Red Dress Sailor - Girls Girls Girls Hello - Star Studded Sham www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_IqhS3DYmISmokie - Something Making Me Blue New Seekers - Its So Nice To Have You Home Bay City Rollers - I Only Wanna Be With You Sensational Alex Harvey Band - Amos Moses Hot Chocolate - Heaven Is On The Backseat Of My Cadillac Sweet - The Lies In Your Eyes Smokie - Wild Wild Angels Sweet - Action Twiggy - Here I Go Again Also The Arrows -Touch Too Much www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPelyeNqvw0(Which was previously thought to be shown on totp). Perhaps not since these promos are made by ITN/Mike Mansfield. Gary Glitter - Always Yours www.youtube.com/watch?v=-OQ-LT7MQ_IThe Shadows - Let Me Be The One www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMDwyAWkakwAnyone know for any more?

Bob you might be right with Mike Mansfield. I've been looking through a lot more of these peformances. One of which i thought was 'Mud - L.L.Lucy' on Supersonic turns out that it is a totally different performance from the ones that Granada+ showed. It has the same 'Scaffold' staging and some multi coloured lights on the back wall but no large 'star', so it looks like it was shot in the same studios as supersonic but as a stand alone promo.
Some more performances are Suzi Quatro, Chris Spedding & Smokie

The use of the coloured tipped microphones seems unique at these ITN's Studio's performances. There are quite a few more of these around. Sailor, Hot Chocolate, Gilbert O'Sullivan, Sensational Alex Harvey Band, Twiggy........

Here's another performance with the same set. Kiki Dee - Once a Fool Since T Rex were with 'EMI' and Kiki was with 'Rocket Records' would the same production company make the promo's for them? Attachments:

I've done a bit of research into the 500th and not got very far. People i've contacted regarding The Who's copy have not replied. Hopefully Ray, you'll have more luck.
There was a story i was following up that the BBC did hold a copy of the 500th that was loaned to The Who's Management at some point. This was not a copy but the original print. This however seems to have gone missing!. (This story is unsubstanciated by the way).
There is the PVL which as John said is incomplete.
There is another copy floating around which i am trying to track down. The Who's 5:15 from it is on youtube but is several generations down the line and no one i've contacted so far knows the original source.

How about 2 from the PVL
Slade - Skweeze Me, Pleeze Me 10 CC - The Dean and I
Love to see that Georgie Fame - Ballad of Bonnie & Clyde aswell
"WIZZARD - Angel Fingers (27/12/73)" From some research, i believe that this is a mistake in the BBC database and it's just the record with the playout titles at the end of the show, not a performance. (Hope i'm proved wrong someday though).
