That looks great. I'll be buying one of those. I'm intrigued by the little glimpse of colour 'home movie' footage at 1m 29. I wonder what tv show they were filming? The eagle eyed here might recognise the set.

Shame we can't tell who the drummer is or what the logo is on the camera, both would help date the footage....

It looks like Eric Haydock on bass to me.

I'll be getting that as well! I was a bit disappointed by "The Dutch Collection" as it was very heavy on film promos. This one looks like it has some choice TV appearances though.
I think the home movie might be of the Palladium show.

I didn't know about a Pretty Things DVD as well. That's a must buy! Are there any others slated?
I'd like to see:
Manfred Mann The Animals The Zombies The Yardbirds The Kinks Them Spencer Davis Group
All of these are very poorly served on DVD so far.

Yes, Pretty Things was completely finished, but back in spring this year - it was cancelled for money reasons. They showed complete film on one event in USA and make trailer. I downloaded this from Facebook www.megaupload.com/?d=MDC78HHKThe Zombies Them I don't think there was so much footage of this groups for long DVD. And i can't imagine modern Van talking about his Them days too much ! :-)

With high hopes bought two their DVDs - Small Faces - All Or Nothing 1965-1968 and Dusty Springfield - Once Uplon A Time 1964-1969...
Their DVDs are terrible. They have imposed on all lip-sync clips remastered stereo soundtrack!! On some tracks, remastered sound (looks like) did not match with the video, and they "decided" to change the speed of the video (think about it!!), which led to defects in the video image quality. Also, most videos anyway still not perfectly synchronize with the "other" audio - it is clearly seen.
I watched and refused to understand, how such respected dvd-label could descend to do such a fake?...
Also, I do not like the fact, that all live and lip-sync clips with the original mono-sound, re-sounded in stereo - but it's just my taste.
However, the fact, that these dvd-guys did not bother to do his work at a good technical and professional level - creates a lot of doubts, firstly, in their skill and professionalism, and secondly, in all of their future "projects" which they announced.

Hmm, It may possibly be sourced from "Thank Your Lucky Stars"? However, I was inclined to think this has the look of a US TV show honestly ? The set looks rather similar to those seen in the US during this time-frame. Could this have been filmed behind-off stage possibly? Could this be from US-TV show Upbeat? Again, may be way off the mark here however. I agree with Ray in that if some shots were clearly visible would assist greatly in placing this material. Same goes for the recently posted photo of The Sweet by forum member Phillmoss. I would like to see this properly cleaned, and showcased as well in regards to the 66' TOTP "Bus Stop" performance. ;D We can do the best with the material we have been given. Any other concrete thoughts on this one? I will be looking out for this release as well, sounds great! Cheers, Lance.

Hi Sergey – I think your judgement concerning Reelin In the Years DVD releases is just a tad too harsh. I would hardly describe them as terrible!! Whilst their job of re-synching the original audio with a new stereo soundtrack is not to everyones taste, some of the original audio on much of this vision is in fairly poor, scratchy quality. The art of re-synching clips with new audio has never been an exact science, and yes – I agree with you – sometimes the video itself has to be adjusted to match the new audio, but I do not think anyone can question this companies level of professionalism or skill level with regards to technical expertise. I cannot think of any other individual or company who could possibly do any better!!. In fact – come to think of it – I cannot think of too many other companies PERIOD that have made any attempt at all at presenting all this wonderful archival footage the way they have with all those previous jazz and soul music anthologies, plus the latest British Invasion series – all I can say is thank god for companies like Reelin In The Years!! Besides ARD Video with those wonderful German Beat Club Boxed Sets and the briefly-available now-withdrawn Musikladen sets, the only other company that has made any attempt at official releases of the older material that interests us all is of course BR Music Two – and they also just happened to re-synch many clips themselves if the original audio was not up to scratch as I think we all are aware. Sadly even BR also do not issue any new material under their own banner any more and use Universal to finance all their releases these days – and the reason – licensing and clearance issues!! This is what is really killing most companies ability to release music DVD’s these days. Hence the lack of a Pretty Things DVD which looks as though it will never see the light of day without a major company financing the release. Sadly, I do not think there is any future for any new releases due to all the complex licensing and clearance issues these days – the Hollies could sadly well be RITY’s final British Invasion release. Whilst obviously these British Invasion DVDs' did not suit your tastes Sergey, I would hardly describe them as terrible!!

Hi Laurence - we would all love to see more of any of these groups. Manfred Mann was slated by RITY for release at one stage along with The Hollies and The Pretty Things. That project seemed to get abandoned early in the piece. RITY completed both The Hollies and the Pretty Things (I am sure the Pretty Things has been shown in public at a preview screening) but only The Hollies managed to get the financial backing of Eagle Vision, but they did not see any commercial viability for the Pretty Things - hence looks as if that one is off the books as well. I do not hold much hope of any future releases now - this could well be the last. Too many clearance and licensing issues to make any such release viable any more!!

"Whilst obviously these British Invasion DVDs' did not suit your tastes Sergey, I would hardly describe them as terrible!! "
I agree, Brett. This company deserves high praise indeed for their work, and I think Sergey's comments are harsh, to say the least!
As someone who loves editing, including replacing poor audio tracks with high-quality audio from a good source, I'm happy as long as the picture is good, but I realise not everyone wishes to be an editor!
But come on, Sergey, if you call their DVDs "terrible", give us some examples of what you call good. There really is no pleasing some people.
Colin.
