Ok, this isn't a poll. I'm doing some market research here....
From all the existing TOTP clips that have not been shown on TV in full since their original broadcast, which ones would you most like to see?
Please specify group/artists and appearance date if known.
The rules are that they must be known 100% to exist (no Paperback Writer); that the Beeb haven't shown them in full since original broadcast (so no Starman or anything from RNR Years, Sounds of the 60's/70's, Big Hits 64-75 etc) and the songs must exist in full.
My votes (which I will add to) include Splinter's Costafine Town, the Who's 5.15 and also Marc Bolan's Teenage Dream.
PLEASE VOTE!

Marc Bolan's Teenage Dream
News to me! That doesn't exist in full does it?
My votes would go to CILLA BLACK - Anyone Who Had A Heart (27/12/73) WIZZARD - Angel Fingers (27/12/73) SPARKS - Never Turn Your Back On Mother Earth (7/11/74) SUZI QUATRO - The Wild One (28/11/74) BLONDIE - Nothing Is Real But The Girl (Recorded but never shown/1999)

Hi Mike - it does. It is safeguarded in a private collection (not PVL) and was recovered from a domestic video recording made at the time. Here's a clip from it:- www.youtube.com/watch?v=EdDBR3Pro90

It would have to be the broadcast quality Bob Pratt (and other similar) material for me, as most has not been seen since first transmission. There is a fair bit but it would include:
Family - Weaver's Answer Fairweather - Natural Sinner The Tremeloes - Me And My Life Tony Joe White - Groupie Girl Pickettywitch - Sad Old Kinda Movie The Shadows - Don't Make My Baby Blue Cliff Richard - Visions Walker Brothers - Baby You Don't Have To Tell Me Clodagh Rogers - Goodnight Midnight Creedence / Pan's People - Green River Sandie Shaw - Come Tomorrow Gene Pitney - This Girl Belongs To Yesterday CCS / Pan's People - Walkin' The Who - The Seeker Plus all the TOTP-sourced ZDF Disco material from the early '70s that we know exists. A few others too, such as Sparks (Mother Earth, as already mentioned) and Robert Wyatt (I'm A Believer), which exist in decent semi-pro quality. There are too a lot of film inserts dating back to the '60s which have not been screened again as yet.
Yes, a few can be found on Youtube in poor quality but i'm talking about seeing again complete, as used in a TV compilation in good quality (preferrably without profile captions plastered over them!)

Thank you Laurence - keep them coming. I completely agree with you that it would be great to see them on TV (rather than youtube) and without captions!

Good post, Ray. I would go for anything from 27/12/1973 and 11/10/1973.

Exellent choices all around here.Would really like to see anything from those two editions Chris mentioned as well.Marc Bolan's Teenage Dream would be an absolute "Dream" to be able to see in full.Just glad it still exists, and in full no less!
I for one am wanting to see either of the Slade performances from 18.11.71 & 2.12.71.As well also from these editions:
John Knogos-Tokoloshe Man Gilbert O'Sullivan-No Matter How I Try Cliff Richard Sing A Song Of Freedom Deep Purple-Fireball
Or how about that clip for Georgie Fame "The Ballad of Bonnie and Clyde" 21/12/67?
A few personal favorites.I would also like to see the complete Splinter-Costafine Town clip from the recently recovered Dick Emery U-Matic TOTP edition.Am just sadly left wishing the Queen-Killer Queen performance was intact, better than nothing.
Cheers,Lance.

How about 2 from the PVL
Slade - Skweeze Me, Pleeze Me 10 CC - The Dean and I
Love to see that Georgie Fame - Ballad of Bonnie & Clyde aswell
"WIZZARD - Angel Fingers (27/12/73)" From some research, i believe that this is a mistake in the BBC database and it's just the record with the playout titles at the end of the show, not a performance. (Hope i'm proved wrong someday though).

It's not guaranteed that the PVL contains all it's supposed to though! Just repeating Ray's original brief to choose from stuff that was 100 per cent known to exist.

The most surprising non repeat is definitely the Shadows clip from 1965- particularly because it survives on VT, with full DJ links, and not a scratchy telerecording like most other clips seen 100s of times. Its non appearance on Sounds of the Sixties seems very odd as of course all the other VT clips were shown in one episode. Maybe the researchers have a grudge agaisnt them ?

Would love to see :
THE JAVELLS feat. NOSMO KING – Goodbye Nothing To Say
ROXY MUSIC – All I Want Is You
PAPER LACE – The Black Eyed Boys
MUD – Rocket
HUDSON-FORD – Burn Baby Burn
I believe all are existing - of course most are recent discoveries

Oh yeah I have seen that 'Teenage Dream' clip but it's not in the best shape and not at the BBC. Would love to see it though. Wasn't it stolen from his house by some dodgy group called the Bolan Liberation Front or something? I forgot about the 1971 discoveries, would love to see Gilbert O'Sullivan and Slade. Why can't BBC4 have an evening or weekend of TOTP recoveries. It really bugs me these things are found and we still never get to see them.

I'd like to see what's left of the recently recovered Pink Floyd - See Emily Play. What's the point of having it if we can't see it. Come on Beeb, get it on youtube!
