Slightly off-topic but heads up for all Pop Quiz fans. This from an e-mail i recieved today from VintageTV, not sure when it's on though.
"The Vintage Christmas Pop Quiz Remember Mike Read’s 80s hit music game show Pop Quiz? Well, it’s back. A mere 28 years after it last aired, it has been revamped and draped in tinsel for our very own Christmas Special. Tension, laughter and true grit aplenty, as Bucks Fizz’s Jay Aston, Haircut 100’s Nick Heyward and Slade’s Dave Hill battle against Queen of 80s pop, Toyah Willcox, R&B soul star Geno Washington and pop icon Paul Young to be crowned champions. Tune in to learn their fate and try your own luck at those tricky questions."

A big thank you for me aswell John, it's such a great honor to have someone like you post your own story on this recovery, and if it wasn't for people like you, i like others here would never again get the chance to see clips like this bowie one. Once again the BBC seem to be railroading into troubled water, hopefully all will keep calm and things will work out as you'd hoped.

Now that 'Days Of Our Lives' has an extended release on bluray & dvd, has anyone bought it and can confirm that in the bonus section there are complete performances of Seven Seas & Killer Queen from the recently recovered shows.?

This was posted by Rich Angell over on the popscene forum..... The Legs and Co. Competition winner was a 16-year-old girl called Elaine Coombs from Salisbury, Wiltshire. This information plus a photo of her with the girls is in the photos section of that forum that gets a few mentions on here every now and then, "One For The Dads." Here's the link for it one-for-the-dads.979225.n3.nabble.com/Legs-Co-tp2078716p2834996.htmlJust a thought, I wonder if they gave Elaine a copy of the show?

I'd like to thank all invovled in recovering this clip, brilliant work.
I think that a One Show story on this would as said be very high profile and may lead to more recoveries.
Perhaps another 'Big Hits 1964-1975' (which was shown as a prelude to the 1976 totp repeats on BBC4) could be put together and include this and many others that have now been recovered. A perfect opportunity would be as a prelude to the 1977 season about to start in the new year?

Laurence, i haven't directly checked the BBC for the paperwork myself, but have been told by other researchers that there appears to be no trail to follow on that front.

These 'inserts' present a mystery. I tried to follow up the emergence of The Hollies 'Bus Stop' when that showed up from the US and that appeared to be a stand alone insert that MAY have been used in American video Jukeboxes in the 60's rather than used in a US tv show. Some others including the Manfred Mann clips (Semi & Clown) are maybe from the same source and used for the same purpose. There is however no documentation that i can find that the BBC supplied clips either to US shows or for the jukeboxes. If these were supplied for Jukeboxes there are possibly a lot more of them to be discovered. Unless there is a trail to follow with paperwork then the only hope is them showing up at auctions or youtube.

I don't think PM the links is the answer because that would deprive many on this forum of seeing lost/recovered material, and that's what this forum is all about. After all, were not sure that the account has dissappered because of this forum, are we?.
Youtube has been a valuable source over the last few years for discovering lost material and should be encouraged by the corporates, and not viewed as a pirating site as some corporations do.

Thanks for the info about Blue Mink. Paul. What makes you so certain that they were not part of the show? People that have seen the show have confirmed that they are not performing on it.

That clip is not from 16/11/1972. Although the promo part is the same promo that was shown on that edition.
unless i'm mistaken the background in the audience scenes are from 1974 (rainbow set).
If the audience part is genuine, then this clip may be from either 23/11/72 or 7/12/72.
by the way, 'Blue Mink - Stay With Me' is also not part of that show.

That's great news Neil. Hopefully the BBC will make this and other 'unshown' totp available sometime in the future so we can all enjoy them, and not lock this one away like all the others that have been recovered over the last few years never to be seen again.
