From what I remember reading in the early days of ITV some of the smaller companies had a tie-in with one of the "big 4" for networked programmes.
If one of the bigger companies opted out then the smaller ones had to either follow suit, or show something else again.

Sounds of the 80's used some ORS performances.

I saw a huge batch of laserdiscs a few years ago-God they're heavy! Isn't there a Bonzo song about not leaving your records out in the sun? Now,there's a 'buyer beware' when it comes to second-hand goods! Second favourite song about trouser-presses www.lyricsfreak.com/e/ella+fitzgerald/a+fine+romance_20045657.html There's an obvious homage in the last verse. I remember Number 73 featured a song about trouser presses.

Hopefully some more of Twice A Fortnight might surface, I don't think there's a single complete show of that existing. Even though it was also aired in Australia which increases the survival chances. Audio for all episodes exists, though. It's even on youtube AFAIK. I've heard a few comedies from this time have audio recordings surviving.

Either that or charity shops price them well over the price they should be. I guess they had a price guide but assumed the mint price was for all examples, or looked on ebay for an idea of a price.

I'll be watching these, especially the ones I've not seen before or don't have a copy of.

Great news, especially as one of the Pythons once lemented at how much of his pre-Flying Circus TV work had been wiped.

Was The Tonight Show still live at this point?
Jack Paar had a few run-ins with NBC over jokes, so by then it might have been pre-recorded by then.
I know up to about 1972 a lot of editions were wiped, though quite a few clips have survived by being put into compilations that were kept.

I'm still pleased anything was found at all.
Also it's often been said that the historicals wern't as exported as much, not sure if that's true.

I've heard the format needed a bit of fine tuning in the early days. Also IIRC some early tapes do survive but are in too poor condition to screen.

Did C4 keep a "duty log" of everything as broadcast on VHS, like the BBC did from 1987?

In thought being live they would be recorded in case someone acted up & it was needed as evidence.

I remember Tomorrow's World showing a film based digital format sometime in the 1990s.
