I've found some classic stories could lose an episode or two & not lose anything important. The 6+ parters are usually the worst for this, with the odd exception.
Even by the 1980s plenty of ascended fans were working on the series, which was a mixed bag, especially when there too many times the stories needed some knowledge of previous stories to understand them fully. Pre-internet this put a fair amount of casual fans off. This eased back somewhat in the late 1980s.

I've also enjoyed it since came back, with the mid Matt Smith era filler episodes probably being the weakest & the River Song related arcs being too hard to follow & not making the best of a good character.
Luckily Steven Moffat managed to learn from his mistakes & the later 11th Doctor stories were stronger, then the first two 12th Doctor series were up to RTD's standards. Things slipped slightly in the 3rd when Moffat started to run short of ideas.
Chibnall's era started off awkward but get better as they went along.

I'm not surprised Chas & Dave were sessionists & members of touring bands for years before becoming a duo.

Babs Lord....still married to Robert Powell. I heard they got married while he was filming Jesus of Nazareth because the Vatican complained they were living in sin.

It's a shame the BBC sold a job lot of 2 inch tapes to Australia which included a lot of the Multi-Coloured Swap Shop off air recordings.

Even some old continuity & adverts are a good time capsule after 20 odd years.
There's plenty of programming from as recent as that which hasn't been released on DVD, often documentaries aren't released.

This was good to hear as the BBC didn't start keeping them until quite recently.

I remember The Lion was the first episode found after I started reading DWM, who gave it's discovery a very good feature.

I keep forgetting how much time has passed since the Millennium, & I've actually had more of my life in the 21st Century!
In the 1980s my parents used to talk about things from 20 years before & often it would seem a part of history, but now I can recall things from nearly twice as far back & they sometimes don't feel too old!

Channel didn't go colour til '76!? Even us folks in NZ got Colour before that in October 1973, although many local programmes were still Black and White until 1975. A few countries were late getting colour, Australia & Italy didn't until the mid 1970s. Supposedly South Korea deliberately didn't start until 1981 because the government were worried people would want too watch too much TV & this would have a negative effect the efficiency of their industry!

Was it more that Star Trek was in colour? or did most people still not have colour sets anyway at that point? One of the reasons that Star Trek was renewed for 3 seasons and thus became incredibly popular due to syndication was because it was made in colour and helped to sell colour television sets made by NBC's parent company RCA. From trailers I've seen from the early days of Star Trek NBC were pushing colour in a big way, I think they were the first network to fully switch to colour, at least in prime time. I imagine the sale of colour sets were catching on around that time.

I remember my Dad mentioning that Star Trek was a talking point in the Autumn of 1969.
