Cheers Gabriel; Wonder what this play was it was around 1977 78 he was very sarcastic and witty in it saying things like gimme a cup of that flthy brown stuff will you unless im thinking of Leslie Philipps? Don't think he was a copper, Elliott was playing a former boy scout who goes to dinner with another former boy scout after a gap of many years. He tries to get a job from the Hendry character but is rebuffed because we learn from a series of flashbacks that the Elliott character had humiliated the Hendry character in the scouts. It was very highly praised at the time as I discovered when writing the book. I saw the play back in 1978 and can remember it but I was only 11 at the time. Haven't seen it since.
