Who searched them, do you know? Also, I thought Singapore was the final destination for Power, and thereafter 'unknown'? I don't even know if there has been a search of Singapore, I just assumed that there would have been. The problem with the missing episodes is that the record keeping was horrible. Most likely after Singapore, however, the season 4s that went to Hong Kong were sent to Zambia where they disappeared. Zambia has been the location of pretty much every missing Troughton episode disappearing at some point (The only exceptions are Fury from the Deep, the Invasion, and the Wheel in Space). I am almost certain that Zambia has been searched. The season 3 prints did disappear after Singapore, however, and no one knows what happened to them. Fury, Ice Warriors, and Invasion are also MIA there. For more information you could check out gallifreybase.com/w/index.php/Main_Page

I can't say for sure, but I am almost certain that at some point someone has trawled the Singapore archives for Doctor Who. However, if for some weird reason they have never been searche dthen I doubt Power would be found there as all of season 4 and the last three episodes of season 6 were supposedly sent to Hong Kong. However there are other episodes that could still be there including Fury from the Deep, episodes 2 and 3 of the Ice Warriors, Episodes 1 and 4 of the Invasion, and all of season 3 except for Masterplan. Once again I will say that you shouldn't get too excited as the Singapore archives have almost certainly been searched.

Do you know if there will be an official DVD release in the US?

Doesn't necessarily mean anything. It sounds like they're redesigning the site. I think the key is the "Injecting more Power" bit. Why use that particular word and why was it capitalized?

It would be too, too, obvious to announce it on November 23rd,so it'll be any day but that.November 23rd is the one day it won't be.Nope, not that day. Unless of course they do choose that day because no one will think it wil be on that day because it it too obvious.

If there are an infinite amount of alternate dimensions, then there would be one exactly like ours except that no episodes would be missing. However, what if there was an alternate dimension exactly like ours with exactly the same number of missing episodes, but different ones. That’s where this list comes in. What I did is I took all of the missing episodes and reversed them (If An Unearthly Child 1 were missing in this world then The War Games 10 would be missing according to this list, while An Unearthly Child 1 would exist. I hope that makes sense). I also calculated surviving clips and missing segments. In this alternate universe there are still 97 missing episodes, but they aren’t all the same as this world’s. Remember, this list is completely random and every episode and segment is exactly where it should be (Except for the First Doctor’s regeneration clip which should have landed with The Savages 1, but I decided to keep it where it was in the Tenth Planet 4). I did take some liberty when it came to which episodes were animated/reconstructed, but the Levine commission, and the episode lost forever both correspond to their correct episodes. My question to you is this, after looking over the list, would you switch out our reality for this one if you had the choice?
Exists/Complete serial
Serial with at least half of its episodes surviving
Serial with less than half of its episodes surviving, but more than zero
Missing Episode/Completely missing serial that has surviving clips
The Feast of Steven’s correlating episode/Completely missing serial with no surviving clips
Episodes officially animated/reconstructed by the BBC and released on DVD with the rest of their serial.
Episode animated after a private commission by Ian Levine.

The Web Planet Episode 3 was found with The Romans 4, The Web Planet 1, 2, 4, 6, The Crusade 1, 2, 4, and The Space Museum 1, but was stolen before being returned to the BBC.
Ian Levine commissioned an animation for The Evil of the Daleks Episode 5.
Rumor has it that the BBC is animating all four episodes of the Gunfighters. Some sources claim that an animation for all four episodes of the Celestial Toymaker, or at least a two episode long condensed version, are also being made.
3 minutes and 32 seconds of alternate takes exist for The Dalek Invasion of Earth 6
Short segments are missing from the following episodes: The Tomb of the Cybermen 3 (0:12), The Evil of the Daleks 7 (0:27), The Power of the Daleks 5 (Unknown. Next episode caption missing), The Smugglers 1 (1:00) and 2 (0:08), The Ark 1 (0:02), and The Daleks’ Master Plan 4 (0:20).

(The 27 second regeneration clip from the Tenth Planet 4 should go to The Savages 1, but as I think the lack of the regeneration clip could greatly sway the results, I am leaving it with TTP4.)
Total amount of time for surviving footage/missing segments are above.
3 episodes without any clips VS. 3 episodes without any clips.
So are you going to choose the real world and have more complete stories, or the alternate world and have a more even spread of serials? Would you go for more Hartnell, or Troughton? Is there a favorite story that you think needs to exist?
As for me, I think I would switch out our reality for this one, being the Troughton fan that I am.

So I've heard multiple times that during Phil Morris' search some tv stations panicked and destroyed film reels that they had neglected to junk during the 60's, 70's, and 80's. Do we know if this is true or not, and if it is do we know which, if any Doctor Who episodes were destroyed?

Could be but any Web 3 will do to make the story finally complete :-) And bring the missing serial count to 25. Then we can officially say that we have half of the b&w episodes in their entirety.

We are jumping to a lot of conclusions. You're right there's no definitive proof about anything, but I would like to say a few words about your points. A. Yeah, we have absolutely no idea, but it does look professionally made. B. Apart from the scenes of Troughton talking (Episode 2) and the episode 5 cliffhanger, all of the animated footage is from the very end of Episode 4 and the very beginning of Episode 5 so while it is from multiple episodes it is for the most part in a condensed area. C. It could be test footage, but I doubt that it's from a fan animation. It just looks too well done. I mean it's better than any animation the BBC has had made for an official release like The Invasion or The Ice Warriors. D. Power may be the second least likely serial to be recovered, but we have over a quarter (If you count surviving footage) of the least likely serial to be recovered. Power is also a Dalek story and due to their popularity, if a collector was looking for prints, it would be an ideal purchase. E. Considering the BBC's notoriously cheap way of treating the missing episodes *cough*Underwater Menace*cough* I find it hard to believe that they would undertake such an expensive project, even for a serial as popular as Power. Considering the evidence I think this is most likely test footage that an animation company made (Maybe for a commission from Ian Levene? It wouldn't be the first time). However I am still curious as to why it was taken down. For now all we can do is sit, wait, and hope for the best. Just like we've been doing for forty years. For the last forty years... So Ian, you were aware that Doctor Who episodes were missing as far back as 1976? Where did you find out about them being missing that particular year? I learnt the awful truth in 1983, from the book Doctor Who A Celebration. As I've been waiting to watch Power ever since that day, I don't envy you the extra seven years you've had! Apparently, Fury From the Deep was still knocking about in the BBC archives in 1976. You could have snuck in there one night and helped yourself! Well, I personally didn't find out in 1976. I am a very recent fan. Summer of 2014, but Troughton is my favorite Doctor so naturally I have become very invested in the missing episodes. Episodes starting disappearing about 40-45 years ago, so when I said forty years I was referring to the fanbase as a whole, not myself. P.S. If I had been around in 1976 and known about it then, Fury from the Deep would be safely stored in my basement right now.

We are jumping to a, lot of conclusion. First that it was BBC made. It looks great but most of the scenes are from existing footage. Also from many episodes It could be test footage, it could be from a fan animation, And if it was bbc, because the amount of prints of power made are so small that it is one of the least likely to be recovered stories. I'm thinking if it was bbc connected it's likely a stsnd alone animation rather than a recovery. We are jumping to a lot of conclusions. You're right there's no definitive proof about anything, but I would like to say a few words about your points. A. Yeah, we have absolutely no idea, but it does look professionally made. B. Woah, something just occurred to me. The only serials with animated episodes are those that are almost complete. Why would they suddenly decide to animate a missing serial unless...could they have...there were only segments of animations for episodes 2, 4, and 5. Could at least part of the serial have been found?

The video was removed. Possibly at the request of a certain TV studio who doesn't want it leaked?

That looks absolutely amazing. I'm not sure if it's an official animation or not as it does seem a bit too good to be true, but if the BBC were to animate one missing episode, it would be Power, so I don't really know what to think.

The most heart-breaking aspect of Phillip Morris's 'boots to the ground' plan is that he turned up at TV-Stations who had just recently destroyed material. I've heard about this before. Do they know any specific episodes that were destroyed or do they just know that things were destroyed?
