It wouldn't surprise me.POTD together with MP are the 2 stories that have filtered through the omni-rumour from the beginning with some outrageous veiled admissions by DWM and Moffat even before WOF and EOTW were announced.Perhaps the time for the confirmation of it's existence has finally come?

More likely going off the Mirror rumour of the Power animation than anything to do with a recovery.

Doesn't necessarily mean anything. It sounds like they're redesigning the site.

They are a fan site with no dkrect connection to anyone involved with the show or recovery of missing episodes. At best they are referencing the recent rumours about an animated version being produced, at worst its just an accidental typo. There is nothing to read into.

They reported on Web in 2007. I think there was something to their contacts. Besides, the owner had remarked on the Power animation elsewhere, indicating that he was pretty sure about it happening.

The Web story was a hoax which led to them not reporting anything on the matter unless there was solid evidence to back it up. And no, that does not mean they have solid evidence so are secretly hinting at it. Web wasn't found until late 2011.

A page on the BBC store announcing the animation, was posted today and then taken down for whatever reason. Also, a lot of people saw it and screen-caps of the page are now doing the rounds on several Dr Who forums and Twitter. I'd say the cat's definitely out of the bag now and the Daily Mirror were bang on on this occasion!

If this animation story does prove to be true it would indicate that BBC have fairly strong evidence that no episodes of Power of the Daleks have been found. Or that they have definitely been found but a currently unrecoverable. Or that... Who knows. I wish I did. I wish we all knew. As a side comment - In the latest issue of the Radio Times Rob Howard talks about his latest film about Beatlemania. He relates how following a world wide search he found "new films of the Beatles. Gives you hope don't it?

I'd say the cat's definitely out of the bag now and the Daily Mirror were bang on on this occasion! They were bang on because the BBC told them. They also told them the news was under embargo until 12:01 am on the 7th of September which they clearly broke. I'm hoping the lawyers are let loose and destroy them. By the looks of things the BBC Store will offer Episode 1 on the 5th of November, followed by Episode 2 on the 6th and so on. On the 14th of November it will be made available through other suppliers.

While I wish we could have the real episode, I'm grateful for the animation. Let's support this 100%

If this conjecture turns out to be correct then whilst I will support the animation I will do so with a heavy heart as it will mean the end of the road for the search for the real episodes. If some other classic such as Evil, Snowmen or Fury turned up then that would at least be compensation for the loss of Power... just. But i shall keep my fingers crossed that these predictions are wrong!

Sadly, power was always one of the least likely stories to be recovered.
Faith in the rumors tend to lead to broken hearts. But I will enjoy the animation there is still hope that an episode is in a collection some where but very unlikely
