Thanks, yes I suppose it is difficult to verify whether the promo for Boxing Day 1967 was the same as those films shown in the January editions. It looks like an official alternative clip to the more well known colour promo. If it is the same one shown in Jan '67 I suppose it could've been a straight transfer from one of those editions. Perhaps the same with the clip for Scott McKenzie 'San Francisco'. It's just good to think that we can at least theoretically increase the number of separate clips from that most frustratingly elusive of Totp years. Thanks as well for the info on 'Alternate Title'. Does it include Alan Freeman's intro as well? One other thing; Will BBC4 ever show the rediscovered Totp clip of The Turtles 'She's Rather Be With Me' from 27/7/67. It's damaged for the first minute or so but the last 2 minutes are totally fine for broadcast. The Alternate Title promo that was released is not from the TOTP broadcast. It is the actual film that was shown, without an introduction. Regarding The Turtles, or any of the "recovered" TOTP clips that are in less than broadcast quality..... As of now, I believe that the BBC has no interest in funding the restoration of those clips, or paying any additional royalties to the performers or song writers.

I cannot confirm that the other "I'm A Believer"s were the same as the 26th Dec 67 version, but I just wanted to mention that the 'Alternate Title" promo was available in pristine condition, and in color, on the limited-edition Monkees Blu-Ray Box. I will guess that the I'm A Believer promos were all the scenes from the TV show, as shown on the 26 Dec 1967 TOTP show.

Have any other full performances of this recovery (besides Chicory Tip) surfaced online? Several of the 405-line recovered material clips have been returned to the respective artist(s). For instance, Andy Scott had requested the Sweet clips, and posted the one you linked to, above. I expect that more of these will be seen online in time. The COVID situation had slowed down (or stopped) all progress on the recovery of the remaining tapes, which were deemed unwatchable.

I had gotten that on VHS in the 80s as "Beacon Theater 1975". Very cool concert!

There were still some real goodies though, such as the two brilliant 'Shindig Goes to London' episodes taped at the Richmond-on-Thames Jazz Festival. To my knowledge, those were the only shows shot on color film, rather than black and white video. And yes, totally excellent!

Brilliant! Does anyone know if the whole show survives? Yes, the entire episode does survive.

My archive tape contains the full show (minus Dusty) which runs around 1 hour 10 minutes. And then is followed by a second take of the introduction to the Shadows "Apache" (followed by the same performance). But just like Peter's, including German spoken bits? (I wouldn't be so skeptical if I hadn't heared completely opposite accounts.) yes. some of the intros are both english and german, and sandi shaw sings the german "puppet on a sstring".

How about these early rockers - does any footage survive of these great performers? Janice Peters Glenda Collins The Flee - Rekkers Wee Willie Harris Vince Eager Duffy Power There is a segment from "Panorama" (16 March 1959) that includes most of the Larry Parnes stable, including Vince Eager, Duffy Power, Johnny Gentle, and Billy Fury. They are all interviewed, and Duffy performs one song.

Another group I nearly included was The Paramounts (who later morphed into Procol Harum of course), but then I remembered this footage of them backing Sandie Shaw: There is also a short 8mm film of the Paramounts live at the Hammersmith Odeon December 1965.

Another consideration is perhaps whether or not footage survives of the artists in their prime. As an example, there are some recent-ish audience clips of King Size Taylor, but none (as far as I know) of King Size Taylor and The Dominoes in the '60s. Of course, there is also LOTS of footage of The Pirates without Johnny Kidd from circa 1977 onwards. King Size Taylor and the Dominoes performing "Stupidity" on RSG does exist. That clip was recently provided to Ted Taylor, who was thrilled to see it.

The actual studio tape survives, but the first 36 minutes are damaged. That includes a Hollies song and a solo performance from Jimmy Page. The segment you shared comes after the damaged portion. Here's the Jimmy Page clip (can't recall The Hollies' clip being quite this bad though it's years since I've watched it). Those "stripes" appear throughout the first 36 minutes. It's all bad.

So in theory, the sections that weren't too damaged could be restored for future use, such as this section here which doesn't suffer from too many technical issues. absolutely! It's held by the BBC on 1" tape.
