Hi all, Having been long aware of the rediscovered, though barely viewable promo of 'Alternate Title' from 'Top of the Pops' from July 1967, I have a little enquiry that I wonder if anyone can help with regarding the promo for 'I'm a Believer'. Apologies if this has already been discussed. A promo does of course survive from 26th December 1967. I was wondering if this was the same promo clip featured on the editions of 12th, 19th and 26th January. Or at least on one of those. I'm intrigued as this very elaborate promo I've only ever seen on the Boxing Day edition.

I cannot confirm that the other "I'm A Believer"s were the same as the 26th Dec 67 version, but I just wanted to mention that the 'Alternate Title" promo was available in pristine condition, and in color, on the limited-edition Monkees Blu-Ray Box. I will guess that the I'm A Believer promos were all the scenes from the TV show, as shown on the 26 Dec 1967 TOTP show.

Thanks, yes I suppose it is difficult to verify whether the promo for Boxing Day 1967 was the same as those films shown in the January editions. It looks like an official alternative clip to the more well known colour promo. If it is the same one shown in Jan '67 I suppose it could've been a straight transfer from one of those editions. Perhaps the same with the clip for Scott McKenzie 'San Francisco'. It's just good to think that we can at least theoretically increase the number of separate clips from that most frustratingly elusive of Totp years. Thanks as well for the info on 'Alternate Title'. Does it include Alan Freeman's intro as well? One other thing; Will BBC4 ever show the rediscovered Totp clip of The Turtles 'She's Rather Be With Me' from 27/7/67. It's damaged for the first minute or so but the last 2 minutes are totally fine for broadcast.

It is the actual film that was shown, without an introduction. Regarding The Turtles, or any of the "recovered" TOTP clips that are in less than broadcast quality..... As of now, I believe that the BBC has no interest in funding the restoration of those clips, or paying any additional royalties to the performers or song writers.

Yes I suppose the tiny snippets of See Emily Play on The Bee Gees doc and 'Psychedelic Britannia' are all the BBC will show from that little hoard of treasures. Maybe they'll find a place for some more of it in the future but even Alan Freeman's slipup in his introduction to 'Death of a Clown' and the singer's response ("DAVE DAVIES!!!!") didn't get shown in the BBC4 documentary about Dave several years ago. That tells you something I guess. Thank goodness for the occasional Kaleidoscope feature on 'Breakfast News' or 'The One Show'. Robert, yes sorry I missed the important word 'colour' in your reply so obviously not the broadcasted footage but wonderful that the BBC promo has been made officially available.

And would you believe that the BBC used MY put together version of 'See Emily Play' that I did with love but quite crudely using Windows Live Movie Maker and then stuck on Youtube. It got all the hits which shocked me but they actually used a clip of MY VERSION!!?? Still beggars belief.

It’s a fantastic piece of recreation regardless of how it was done.

Well that's a lovely thing to say Richard, thank you. I actually used a rare needledrop acetate mix to add to the crackly disintegrating loveliness.

I know that a very dear friend who is an early Floyd fanatic was completely blown away when I sent him the link to it on YouTube. You made his day.
