Interesting lengthy and candid interview.. seems a bit ahead of it's time. Anyone know what it was filmed for? youtu.be/Erqj_mCk9r8I have no idea, but thanks for pointing that out. Great piece!

Hi Ray, The excerpt from the 1963 show was taken from an Australian TV broadcast in 1975 or 1976. There is a fragment of "All My Loving" followed by a complete "Money". The 1964 segment is from a pre-broadcast tape, so there is no audience sound and no audience shots. That's great info! Any more details of the 75/76 broadcast? I've often thought it as preserved from a documentary. TYLS was shown in Oz during 63 and 64. It was presented by John Bailey. I believe he was a newsreader in Australia. I have NO information on the show. Here's a screen grab of the hosts. Do you have any info :-) drive.google.com/open?id=0B0uoya5wBsEtN3JWQ0ppMXNvT0kI have excerpts, where the hosts were cut out, in better quality. But this is the only tape I have that show the hosts.

No Super 8 from the Eel Pie Island days then, what a shame Well, you never know what will turn up. but AFAIK these is no known early super 8. Would love to be proved wrong though! the earliest 8mm films I have are from 1964, though they may have been shot on 16mm then sold as 8mm.

Does anybody know what the estate of Allen Klein hold? Seemed to recall Andrew Loog Oldham sold him everything prior 1969 and it was his company who released 'Charlie is My Darling' and 'Rock and Roll Circus' not the Stones. They may have a ton of stuff, but it's odd that they haven't monetized it yet.

Thought this was kind of interesting... a slideshow of all the MISSING Rolling Stones Tv appearances, with relevant songs and photos: watch it and weep! I'm weeping.

If we won't be able to see it in our lifetimes, then surely the collectors won't be able to profit from it in theirs! What I would say though is that when it does, eventually, fall out of copyright then I imagine it will surface. But I am surprised that at the very least - a screen grab - hasn't even surfaced. By the way, what many consider to be another holy grail John Lennon's "Kenwood" 67 home movies has generated two screen grabs. I wish there was something a bit more concrete on the '66 TOTP than just conjecture! Wow, I didn't know anything about John Lennon home movies from '67! Do you know where the screengrabs were published/are available online? (if they are in the public domain). I'm assuming these are the movies being discussed: www.beatlesondvd.com/19651969/19680609-jl-01.htm

'....despite them pushing it on the most watched pop TV show with a unique live appearance.' But wasn't it mimed? The music wasn't 'live' at all, from what I've heard. Was it a 'live' vocal? The vocal was probably not live, but this was one appearance that was not pre-taped without an audience.

From what I know,(and for what it is worth) I've never heard of anyone (or knowing someone) who has a copy. Same here.

As a coupling, Paperback Writer b/w Rain is one of their finest singles, yet in terms of UK sales I think it was one of the very weakest despite them pushing it on the most watched pop TV show with a unique live appearance. In that respect I'd be very interested to see it. Was it, as would have been fairly typical of the time, a detached and relatively uninterested performance? I'd be hoping for John to pull a face, maybe somebody to forget the words and have a laugh about it, but it would most likely be the set as much as anything else that would make it visually stimulating as there aren't too many examples of artists appearing against that backdrop. I'd much rather see an early Granada appearance uncovered, "Yes it is" on TOTP or even the John and George RSG interview from '65, but the chances of any of those turning up are practically zero. The 66 TOTP is likely the only lost TV appearance we can now realistically hope to ever see again, so in that sense, it would be very exciting. Indeed. The Eamonn Andrews Show from '65 with Ticket To Ride and Yes It Is does circulate on audio. I once heard of an appearance on TV that had them singing Eight Days A Week, but do not recall what show that was. I think the best chance we have of seeing some of these things would be via home 8mm films that we could sync audio to.

I'll watch anything music related that was broadcast in the 60s. Like Ray said, it's missing history.
And I would certainly welcome a chance to view the Beatles TOTP appearance from 1966! It's the Beatles!

I'm led to believe that these tapes have just been 'archived' and no work done on them.! Anyone here care to have a go at improving the Procol Harum performance ,since the beeb can't be bothered. Here's my audio enhanced Procol Harem: drive.google.com/open?id=0B0uoya5wBsEtQjlkamJWekZGR0E
