From Chris Perry:-
""DISCOVERY THIRTEEN: Thank Your Lucky Stars Sometimes Kaleidoscope hears rumours that footage survives in private collections. But it does not get returned. This week Kaleidoscope have been given extracts from two lost Thank Your Lucky Stars editions. Both clips feature The Beatles. The copyright holder says they do not hold them and is very glad they have been put into our archive. The first extract is The Beatles singing "Money" on 26th October 1963. The second longer extract is four songs from a year later on 21st November 1964. Both are in remarkably good quality and seem to be ex VT though whether that is 2" or a reel-to-reel system I don't know. Thanks Chris Perry""

Hi Ray, The excerpt from the 1963 show was taken from an Australian TV broadcast in 1975 or 1976. There is a fragment of "All My Loving" followed by a complete "Money". The 1964 segment is from a pre-broadcast tape, so there is no audience sound and no audience shots.

Forgive me, but are these upgrades to the clips a lot of people have (and sections were used in the Beatles Anthology) ?
Great if they are source tapes though...

Anthology has a teasing clip of Brian Mathew with the Beatles. It looks excellent quality I couldn't find the 4 songs they did on youtube.

Nice one, Simon!
I think Keith Badman wrote about the footage in Transmission Impossible. Discovered in a can labelled rubbish! Pure gold more like. Mark Lewishon mentions that the Beatles took part in a skit with Brian. Would love to see that in full!

I've often thought it as preserved from a documentary. TYLS was shown in Oz during 63 and 64. It was presented by John Bailey. I believe he was a newsreader in Australia.

I have NO information on the show. Here's a screen grab of the hosts. Do you have any info :-) drive.google.com/open?id=0B0uoya5wBsEtN3JWQ0ppMXNvT0kI have excerpts, where the hosts were cut out, in better quality. But this is the only tape I have that show the hosts.
