I have an episode of Discothek from August 1965 with The Kinks and P.J. Proby, but have been told that it is not missing.

Also, the "Come Together" clip that had been shown on "The Tube" is part of the film that was used on LNLU. The full film runs the entire length of the song, and uses all footage from the "A Day In The Life" promotional film.
The "Maxwell Silver Hammer" animation showed The Beatles dressed as a barbershop quartet. I have a still from it somewhere......
I was not sure the "Octopuss Garden" was the one used on LNLU, but I guess it is possible.

Also, do we know if the programme followed the same track sequence as the LP? To my knowledge, this was the order of the clips. Come Together (Lennon-McCartney) 03’55” Maxwell’s Silver Hammer (Lennon, McCartney) 03’26” Here Comes The Sun (Harrison) 03’04” Because (Lennon, McCartney) 02’41” Octopus’s Garden (Starkey) 02’46” Sun King (Lennon, McCartney) 02’26” Mean Mr. Mustard (Lennon, McCartney) 01’08” Polythene Pam (Lennon, McCartney) 01’17” Something (Harrison) 02’59” You Never Give Me Your Money (Lennon, McCartney) 03’45” Golden Slumbers (Lennon, McCartney) 03’00” The End (Her Majesty) (Lennon, McCartney) 00’22”

There are some early surviving Upbeat clips. I have interview clips of The Beatles and The Stones, done by Don Webster. The only complete show I have is from May 1970 with Curtis Mayfield, John Denver, The Ides of March, and, uh, Bobby Sherman. The promo reel has some very early clips, though no complete songs.

I'd think there were news reports from there. But I've never seen any.

hi I've never really been a TOTP aficionado. Are there many missing 60s or 70s performances by key artists which are regarded as "holy grails" by their fans? Definitely The Beatles 1966 appearance.

On this slightly morbid subject. That particular morning my father socially aware me before 08.00 with cup of tea and the terrible news that John Lennon had been shot and died. At that time I slept next to my open reel recorder which was directly connected to a radio and TV. Shocked I immediately turned the radio on and began recording to catch News and subsequent reaction. Using an electronic timer I recorded various Lennon items through out the day mainly audios from the TV. I think I have the soundtrack to Nationwide amongst other progs. Alas I found the whole event very distressing so I have never listened to the tape. I still have it. may be after all this time I should try and play it again. Does any one know if anything "important" in missing terms I should be looking for? I know I am not alone in saying that grief filled day robbed all of us of our childhoods. A truly great man was gone. the dream was over. Hi John, I know how you feel. I recorded hours of material on video during December 1980, and had never re-watched it. Just last year I decided to go thru the tapes, and certainly find them very depressing, but it's not as bad as it felt back then. My understanding is that most of the US & UK tributes do survive on video, and if they don't survive at the TV stations, many fans have them. All the best, Robert
