All, Last Night I kept checking my bbc store account to see if the power of the daleks colour animation has been released and if hasn't The BBC had said that is was going to be released on the 31st December 2016 and I am wondering what happened too it I thought it was going to be released in January, not the end of December. From what I recall it might even have been February as a blu ray. Nope, they said they'd release it on 31st December 2016 - and I just assumed they had done this, although clearly this is not the case.

I don't see why they'e being so puritanical about it, it's not like the BBC is still selling missing episode soundtracks or anything, if they release the animations it's fair enough but episode 4 of Galaxy 4 is something the BBC currently isn't selling. Well at least not in its entirety. There is that shortened version on the Aztecs Special Edition, but I think that people buy that more for the Aztecs than they do for Galaxy 4.I didn't buy The Aztecs for The Aztecs... ...Though The Aztecs was more enjoyable.

It's been reported over on PM that the Loose Cannon reconstruction of 'The Exploding Planet' has been taken down from Dailymotion.

I don't take any rumor seriously until it has been confirmed as "fact", then I take it seriously If its a fact then its not a rumor. ...Obviously.

It was edited, but I do not believe the end was edited out. Well, some of the end was edited. The last line of "Must kill" was censored. Oh, yes, yes, yes! You're quite right. I didn't realise the line 'Must kill' was from the Kembel bit (that's how long it has been since watching Galaxy 4!).

That's not to say it's been edited out though. After all, The Exploding Planet is not Mission to the Unknown. If its been found and that's a huge if, then odds on it will be the Australian print that was sent back to the BBC in the 1970's. Did the Aussies edited Galaxy 4? It was edited, but I do not believe the end was edited out.

If it does turn out to have some truth it we will get our first glimpse at what mission to the unknown would have been like as The Exploding Planet leads into that episode. Just one problem - Mission to the Unknown isn't known to have aired outside the UK, so there's a good chance that any print of The Exploding Planet might well have that bit chopped out. There's always some potential spanner in the works! That's not to say it's been edited out though. After all, The Exploding Planet is not Mission to the Unknown.

As I haven't watched Galaxy 4 in years, remind me - does Galaxy 4 contain footage from Mission? I know it may be difficult to tell, but you may be able to know from the soundtrack.

Apparently,Dick Fiddy has tweeted that more finds are going to be announced by Kaleidoscope in the next couple of weeks with the hash-tag #missing episodes. Is it possible that Galaxy 4 is one of those finds? I tried finding his Twitter account. Word of advice: Don't type 'Dick Fiddy' into the Twitter search bar. Just...don't.

I recently heard a rumour, I wont say who from, that episode 4 of Galaxy 4 has been found or at least located. I've been mulling over posting this and im afraid my curiosity has got the better of me. Is it complete rubbish (probably is sadly), or is pv going to step in and deny it ;-) The devil of these stories is that one always hopes there may be some substance to them. Can't really say Galaxy 4 is a story I particularly care for, but there are rumours doing the rounds about Marco, Wheel, Fury and Snowmen right now. So, like with the other rumours, treat them as lies until proof is shown.

By chance I've just stumbled across a report from the mirror in 2013 about the discovery of "Marco polo" recorded off-air to a cine camera at the time of transmission, did anything ever come from this ? or was it another dead end ? It was a made up story by The Mirror, who were taking advantage of the recent recovery of Enemy and Web. The fact we haven't heard anything more of it in over 3 years confirms as much.

Just finished episode 2 after trooping home in the rain from HMV to buy myself a copy. There were only five copies left, the store assistant said they'd been selling like crazy. My hope is that high sales will push the BBC to do more! Given the limitations faced by the production of this release (lack of time, less than half an episode's worth of existing footage, etc), this really is as good as it gets unless an episode (or six) gets found. I can see some of the reasons for the criticisms surrounding the animation, but any scene with a Dalek in just looks incredible. It's also great to have a disc with the telesnap version, let alone the surviving clips which I had heard were not going to be included originally. All in all, with no new DW series this year, this really is the Doctor Who event of 2016! I'm really glad you and others invested in HMV - they definitely need more love! I hope to make my purchase from them too.

Still waiting for my copy to arrive but if I can comment on watching the DVD of "The Tenth Planet" when it came out with animation. Watching episode 4 as an animation was very hard to get used to after seeing the telesnap reconstructions for the past dozen years. I actually had to sit and re watch the animated episode 4 at a later date in order to accept it inside my brain. Now I am fine with the animation. I am sure "Power of the Daleks" will not be perfect as apparently it was a rush job to meet a deadline but I do hope to see further efforts in the very near future. The animated 4th episode of the Tenth Planet makes the entire story very watchable and I love it.Having not watched POTD yet ( my copy is arriving tomorrow ),I still think the best animation is that done for the Moonbase. Superb vibrant graphics,I would have loved Planet 55 to have continued their superb artwork for subsequent releases. Yes, I have to agree there. I think The Moonbase and The Invasion really set the benchmark high. I haven't seen the POTD animation in full yet - is it better than Cosgrove Hall or Planet 55?
