I think your reading too much into that email, its only as cryptic as you want it to be. Seems like a pretty straightforward reply to me

Wow a lot of work gone into sorting that out. Well done. Can anybody elaborate about the tapes the BBC had?

I expect its down to cost. Its so much cheaper and easier to download a bunch of clips off of YouTube than get them all from different archives. I guess for the most part viewers won't complain

I hope your right about the promo outtakes Simon. Presumably if they exist they would be held by Apple

I imagine that some other missing desert island discs might reside with the participants. It would have been a lot easier to get a copy of this than a television performance if they wanted to. I expect a lot of guests would be unaware that the BBC never kept a copy of their episode

This would seem to be a genuine discovery, I look forward to hearing the details behind its return

I wonder if this is all that remains of this clip. The link is to the wurzels YouTube page and they only have the partial clip uploaded on there. You would think they would upload the whole song if they could

In 1973, lacking Cocker footage, the BBC used their existing footage of Joe Cocker from 'How It Is' for the TOTP 10th Anniversary show 27/12/1973 (as Paul Watkins rightly says).
What's sad about this is that nobody in 1973 thought "hang on we don't have any archive footage from 1968 TOTP, maybe we should start archiving what we do have"

I'm glad to see that some of the legendary PVL is available to view. Could someone explain how these clips ended up with Kal? The last i heard was that the owner was originally asking £20,000 for the collection but had lately been selling individual clips off. Without breaking any confidences has a deal been done?
