well Simon Kelly's post above makes more sense of this - I did wonder why when I saw the list of missing episodes, given the care taken with the Torrent uploads, that a third season pack wasn't available back then - not surprised if these files live on via other torrent sites - the only issue there is whether anyone would still be seeding them.
hopefully Kal can go back to the rights holders and tidy up this information now - although possibly these holdings are BFI donations which might explain the gaps? If any remain missing after that then hopefully someone will come forward with VHS copies as they will be a step up from the AVI's.

I have torrent files off either (now defunct sites)"the box" or "uknova" for the full series 1 & 2 - so those 2 missing series 2 episodes survive on VHS somewhere (the .AVI files are good quality too); including the complete episode featuring Michael Caine

Tonight's edition of "now you see it" on BBC1 featured extracts from what I assume is Sky Star Search - a 1990 edition according to the voiceover - there's one listed as surviving on u-matic from that year - can't say I noticed any sign of it being sub-1inch quality so might be a surviving mastertape? someone will need to check with the production team to see where it came from and whether that source has more - there were multiple companies listed in the end credits as Archive sources but not Kal or the BFI.

The sutherland's law clip originated on one of Eric morcambe's home recordings If I am remembering that correctly. It's covered in the Kaleidoscope BBC drama guide.

You might want to check iplayer for the BBC 1 Wales drama "the devil's vice" which aired in Oct. and was repeated on Saturday night - it has adult themes so not suitable for all - it was certainly worthy of national airtime though, especially as the BBC makes so few one-off Drama's these days.

Also known to exist according to the Film & Tv chronicle as it gives very detailed descriptions and mentions that a bit of studio banter and some of the performance from "I Feel Fine" feature in Anthology - so It would appear Apple hold a print of this one, although it is again omitted from the Kaleidoscope light entertainment guide - as is this (poor quality) home audio of Ringo S tarr, Peter Sellers & Spike Milligan on "Frost On Sunday" which I spotted flicking through the book and checked on youtube to see if it had been uploaded www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhsD9CpOfAU

The Beatles: Film & TV Chronicle 1961-1970 covers this - from the edition recorded on 20-10-63, "Money" survives as an isolated clip for some reason at the news library of channel 7 in Australia. It is not mentioned in the Kaleidoscope light entertainment guide as surviving though.

scratch some of those comments though - evidently ep. 1 has slipped out of the archives

It sounds like it's "Mandog" from 1972 - which does exist in full on 16mm colour film, It's fairly obscure these days because it's one of the few bits of BBC telefantasy that has never seemingly been bootlegged, which makes me think the BBC don't have any viewing copies of it - just the prints.
There's brief info. online - it merits an entry in "the hill and beyond"; I don't think timescreen ever covered it - maybe tv zone ??

yep - that's the thread - I see you spotted the "spoonful of sugar" reference before - It's not a series i'd ever heard of and the xmas listings site shows it was on xmas day in 67-69, if it was screened at any other time of year I guess it could be the source of that recollection about an evil clip since Rolf could have been a featured celebrity rather than the host.

I've just seen a reference in an obituary to Sheila Tracy www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-29443732to a series based around hospital visits by celebrities that ran in the sixties - and I recalled the thread somewhere on here about such a show featuring a clip from evil of the daleks - but I don't think it was ever identified - wasn't it thought to be something involving Rolf Harris? Have any of the DW paperwork researchers checked for production files for "A Spoonful Of Sugar"?

This was probably covered so far back it was on the old version of the forum - I think the Canadian National Archive held all of these, alongside all 39 Fabian Of The Yard, some otherwise missing Aggie and most of Sailor of Fortune; albeit the last series dubbed into French.
In fact I'm a little surprised this isn't covered in the Kal. guide since the Sailor Of Fortune and Fabian of the yard listings both have a note referencing the canadian holdings

now that's proper detective work - well done on finding this material, with something of that vintage I'd hope the Beeb would take an interest in having a patched together copy for reference purposes at least.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Cliff Richard Material from "Thunderbirds Are Go" Kaleidoscope turned up would be screened since it was from an internal training film it would definitely be "unseen material"
