I think I know the answer to this one,but... Wikipedia says: "Episode One" (11 Mar 1961) "Episode Two" (18 Mar 1961) "Pilbeam, the Journalist" (25 Mar 1961) "Episode Four" (1 Apr 1961) "Episode Five" (8 Apr 1961) "Episode Six" (15 Apr 1961) Six more episodes were made, but they were never transmitted. All twelve episodes still exist. Lostshows says: 25.03.1961 Pilbeam The Journalist (missing) 08.04.1961 The Rhino's Night Out (missing) 15.04.1961 A Musical Evening (missing) 22.04.1961 The Sinister Neighbour (missing). Any chance that Wiki's right? Many years back I pointed out that the Kaleidoscope guide listed two series of the Arthur Askey show, and one series of Arthur's Treasured volumes - the episode titles for the Latter series were basically the same as those given for series two of the former suggesting that A.A.S. S:2 and Arthur's Treasured Volumes were one and the same - with all of Treasured Volumes listed as surviving this was in the printed version of the comedy guide (or LE guide) Is this the same issue - uncorrected after all this time?

Lost shows is still available as it always was - the TV brain section is for members and contains enhanced details - as you would previously have found in Kaleidoscope's books - enter the info you are searching for in the lost shows box not the tv brain box www.tvbrain.info/

a glance through the list of the original tapes shows that most of it was tv from '76 upwards hence why it's mostly going to be existing material - plenty of continuity and odds and ends will have been lost yes but it's fairly easy to see how someone could readily cherry pick 30 or so tapes to keep - I'm sure his wife would have know what he considered the unique stuff. Most (all?) of the Beta and VHS tapes probably went straight in the bin

Chris has said there's about 30 tapes left - so approx.99.6% were destroyed if the original figure of 8000 was anywhere near accurate

Actually what the above appears to suggest is that whoever is entering data for the episodes of suspense (ATV) is using IMDB or a similar source for their details and looking at info for the wrong versions of these story titles
the following two entries come from the Kaleidoscope ITV drama guide, which people should buy since Lost shows is just a bare-bones version of the same data , these are clearly British casts
13.03.60 The Devil Makes Three Written by Marc Brandel; produced by Quentin Lawrence. With Jack Watling (John Wycherly), Peter Dyneley (Bob Deniken), Jennifer Jayne (Ruth Deniken), David Rose (Robin), Lionel Ngakane (Barman), Colin Douglas (Inspector Milne), Peter Hughes (Sergeant Ross), Patrick Newell (Howard).
15.05.60 Eight Feet To Midnight Written by Marc Brandel; produced by Quentin Lawrence. With Barry Keegan (Liam O'Neill), Fred Johnson (Tom Dunphy), Kenneth Cope (Joey Gallagher), Sheila Brennan (Blanche), John Cowley (Michael), David Blake Kelly (Dennis), Horace Sequeira (Old Man), Anne D'Alton (First Woman), Sheila Ward (Second Woman), Joan Frank (Third Woman), Randal Kinkead (John Rutledge), Barbara Adair (Waitress), Laurie Morton (Barmaid), Gerald McAllister (Mr Flaherty), Richard Sullivan (Police Constable), Peggy Marshall (Mrs Flaherty).

That does appear to be the one - the full cast list from the Kaleidoscope guide includes characters - Alec Gordon, Joe Briggs and "Barmaid of the green dragon" - all of which tie into the sign on the second page of telesnaps

When I saw people saying it was the death knell for the missing episodes of power turning up - it struck me that even if ( massive if) an episode or two were in the process of being recovered - BBC America in choosing to screen it would probably have wanted it all animated anyway - I'd think they'd ask for an animated Evil ep. 2 if they chose to do it next. some may find that perverse logic but I can see someone approaching it from a broadcasters perspective making that decision not to mix & match.

The Ebay auction suggests a BFI screening so hopefully a tape copy is at the NFTVA, I know the Digibeta of "out of Range" will be there as they arranged the transfer for it and I requested they send a copy to the BBC too, so presumably with "Wildcat" that step was overlooked.
Keep an eye on "Out Of Range" when you watch it - It was a bit of a strange print(s) when bought - on two reeels; the first reel started out with the closing titles followed by the opening titles then the first portion of the episode ending in a film insert where the character is walking up a sandbank, the second reel picked up from the same insert but a few frames were clearly missing and continued to the fade into the credits. The copy sent to me by the BFI was re-edited into the correct order, and the climb up the sandbank has the character jump from one point to another. The Reels for this one are still safe with me.

double cool - since I returned the episode "out of range" and this is the first thing I've recovered that's getting a commercial release

Facebook page sounds like a good route then - probably need to wait a bit though - I doubt more than one or two people at the BBC will be aware of the recovery yet.

the late Richard Down of Kaleidoscope missed out on buying it in 1985 - which is why they've always been certain it existed.
I can't help on the BBC store info - I'm just assuming they have contact details for people to make suggestions - If not then hopefully when the play is handed over the archives can flag it up to them.

the seventh and eighth items listed in the Kaleidoscope BBC drama guide are the original titles sequence on colour film and a specially filmed trailer ; these two listings seem to have been confused as episodes in the count on the lost tv site. At least there's some bonus material for a DVD if Network did consider it a a stand-alone release like they did with Little Lost Robot - I'd have thought it was more likely to turn up on BBC store though - if enough people ask. lost tv site has not been updated with the episode as they have always listed it as existing - although the owner was unknown Thanks,David.I know that sometimes copies in private hands are counted. So half of them do exist. The glass is now half-full! nope - sadly it's 1 out of 6 ; but fantastic that it's finally going to make it back to the BBC.
