on the Dr who news site it says that both Phillip Morris and Fantom Films (It was their event ) have given retrospective permission for the Audio material to be online (on their site at least) though it was unauthorized. Personally I've just gone with reading the transcripts from the audio files, of no surprise to me that Dick and Chris get name-checked in the second session as providing a lot of help to PM - Personally I have no doubts that a lot of recovered material will be announced (one day), I'd expect more Who amongst it from the hints along the way, others will have a different view on that of course. Now roll on the native hue DVD to see his next (in reality - earlier )interview.

David Hamilton has done several events with Kaleidoscope - he has his own show on Big centre TV, one 60's broadcast tape came from him, not sure about domestic recordings. As far as Tony Blackburn goes, he was lined up for a Kaleidoscope event a few years back but backed out for work commitment reasons IIRC - so Kaleidoscope have been in touch with him & I imagine they enquired whether he had any early recordings - perhaps Chris can comment?

It appears that the third series is not entirely unrepresented after all - an extract was used in an awards show according to this page on DinoTV - scroll about 1/5 of the way down the page to the entry for "The Best In Television" www.78rpm.co.uk/tvd.htmthis clip is not covered in the Kaleidoscope comedy guide

reviewing what NellyM had to say in that mausoleum club thread - I don't recall much if any BBC News material refered to in the books or online, could easily be more untapped Beatles footage in the BBC's news film archive.

I've got they two Beatle books as well David; and as you say they do only mention (Newsreel) footage I would love to think that the Blue Peter film insert is (unique) but my hunch is that it's not; as surely it would have been mentioned in a book or be out there in the collector's circuit by now? Possibly Keith Badman might be able to throw some light on this? It wouldn't be the fist time though that the BBC had fully catalogued footage that hadn't made it into the f&tv chronicles; my credit in the second book was for letting them know about some BBC coverage of the Yellow Submarine premier held as an insert reel, though the actual material was not included in the book. see: www.mausoleumclubforum.org.uk/xmb/viewthread.php?tid=21421&page=1#pid263139

well, sort of - I was just flicking through the Kaleidoscope archive holdings details for Blue Peter and spotted in the edition for 28.10.65 - mention of the Beatles investiture (as a film insert);
so I'm wondering whether this is unique BBC footage of the event since the Beatles film & TV Chronicles books only mention newsreel footage, and that's the pathe film, plus 3 different interviews filmed in a theatre afterwards.
does anyone know what the Blue Peter footage contains, has it been bootlegged and I've not spotted it?. Is there any mention of it in the Blue peter book Kaleidoscope published or does infax have any more details?

more series 1 episodes of "Do Not Adjust Your Set" crossed my mind as being both well known and a kid's series , but only time (and Tim) will tell.

Hi all, The rest of the colour episodes only survive as low quality 405-line recordings except for 'A Winter's Tale' which was recovered in 2008 as a b/w telerecording. I am wondering if, like the Dad's Army episode, Room At The Bottom, could A Winter's Tale be restored into colour using the chroma dots. If so, why has this not been done already? Also, apart from this, do none of the colour episodes missing survive in any other form than the 405-line VT recordings? Could these not be restored in some way (audio restoration, picture improvements, etc.) to make them more watchable? Many thanks only the first half of the episode was recovered on film , and colour recovery has been done on it - it looks very good, IIRC I saw it at the Raiders event at BAFTA. If the whole episode had been found on film I'm sure the BBC would have found a slot for it on BBC2

Ah well - just unspooled it and found the credits were split off on the reel - this must be a canadian original as Narator looks like it says Paul Sotherby, episode is likely to be
07.12.62 A-Diving We Shall Go
so not likely to be of interest if Canadian versions are archived

The original bw Tales of the Riverbank are lost. Not held by BBC and the copyright holder sold them to a company that then destroyed them. Hi Chris - I have 1 print, IIRC it's incomplete & I'd have to get round to screening it again to find out who narrated it - I think the credits are missing though - In the opening titles it says "Riverbank Productions Ltd" - does that differentiate between Canadian or British version ? These used to crop up on ebay quite often on 16mm but again - might or might not have been UK versions I think the episode's about a diving bell, or possibly even a submarine

I didn't miss anything thanks, but as I said I don't recall getting the last episode via tape trading so I believed they had all been screened in the UK, I have the DVD or I wouldn't consider the VHS's to be chuckable - If I still have the tape with the final episode on I'll double check it. The Drama series is my principle interest, I didn't watch the other series at the time; I wish they would get round to a dvd of the pilot - I have an official VHS still.
If I can dig it out I'll take a picture of the poster for the Comico one-shot comic which was sadly never released.

The ABC Series, Max Headroom, returned for a second season on Fri, 18 Sep 1987. Unfortunately, ratings were poor and it was pulled from the schedules on 16 October before the last 3 episodes were screened. Two of them were aired the following year but the final episode was only ever shown in Australia, and was unavailable in the US until the DVD release in 2010. Didn't we get the final episode of the drama in the late night UK screenings ? I had them all (probably still have some but have deinitely binned some) on VHS from those screenings and I wasn't missing any but don't recall having to get one from an Australian screening or from the rental tape releases (if they got that far)
