`some complete arseholes here; discourteous, arrogant and rude' ...... `some of the regulars are just bloody obnoxious. ' Pot, kettle, black....timburrows? Bit touchy aren't you? Don't think anyone's been rude to you and I certainly won't stoop to your level of abuse. `I'm out of here' - as you are off in the huff I don't expect you to be reading this or replying to it. But should you be browsing, in response to your message yesterday your post did not actually offend me - rather it left me shaking my head in disbelief. But timburrows I genuinely hope you do find a forum more suited to your type of threads.

Yesterday at 8:05am, jazcheema139 wrote `An incredible near miss ' ?? Erm.... the tapes were recorded over when the BBC still had their copies and The Ice Warriors was shown overseas later than this -so nothing incredible or near about it I'm afraid. Interesting to hear Tobys own recolections though as yes there have been murmurings about this for years. Certainly seems there was no intention of keeping the recording long term and it went the way of most off-air recordings of the time. I'm sure there were tapes of Cup Finals etc, made regularly then recorded over in due course.

Hmm - this is interesting -- I had two prints of "The Center" one with "Next episode: The Lion" and one with a different episode (I've fogotten which). I sold one of the prints in about 2004 - I wonder if this is the print I sold, or another one... Guessing the caption would have read `Next Episode - The Space Museum' Steven as The Crusade was not sold to some countries due to the content. I recall the print of `The Centre' held by the BBC had this caption till another turned up in the `80s.

Beat you to it Steven! missingepisodes.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=who&action=display&thread=6802&page=2Re: Keep the Faith « Reply #17 on Jan 24, 2012, 10:55pm » -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Simon Ashby - `Don't understand the point of this thread.' Anthony Clark - `Utter twaddle!' Have to agree with these comments. Is it just me or has the standard of posts on this forum gone way downhill in the last couple of months? The decline can most probably be pinpointed to the recent recovery.

One thing I do recall shortly after the recovery of `Counter Plot' and `Escape Switch' was a report that one of the episodes was in a film can marked `The Abandoned Planet' sparking rumours this may also exist. Suspect it was another unfounded rumour though as has never been mentioned since.

`We also got to stop getting carried away on speculations. '
No disrespect but people have been searching for over three decades and most `stopped getting carried away on speculations' years ago.

`The list of material lost is fat too distressing to print here' Guarunteed that won't stop people coming on here demanding to know! Reading between the lines of Pauls post though - personally I'd rather not know.

Interesting as when the aforementioned VHS came out in 1990 my first observation was that the sequence from the 1976 game was on film and had the Brian Moore commentary. This is valuable as the digital copy of the match held in the ITV Sport archive is missing the first minute or so which exists on the VHS release. I am assuming the 2 inch tape was not completely rewound before transferring although I believe the 2 inch recording has still been kept. The goals from the 1976 match have featured on STV programmes over the years with Arthur Montfords regional commentary but as was STV policy at the time this was all that was retained. When STV did a number of archive features in the mid 1990s titled 'Hampden Moments' a last minute tackle preventing Mick Channon equalising in the 1976 game was used with the commentary noticeably Moores whereas Montford had described the goals.

I was at that event - pretty sure it was a DWAS Social, but definitely a one day affair. I do recall it was just after the recovery of `War Machines' 1,2 & 4 as they showed the final episode. Yes there is some footage of her panel on the Mythmakers tribute VHS. Without seeking out the tape I'm pretty sure there's a comment from her husband that she didn't particularly enjoy the experience which I believe was here one and only convention appearance.

Encouraging news yes - but it also illustrates the likelihood that the discovery of a black & white episode is more likely to be a copy of one already in existence given the majority of monochromes have been found/kept.

It's a shame that Blue Peters missing, I still remember watching it. The Daleks piece was the last item on the show and I remember they closed with the Dr Who theme rather than Barnacle Bill. I'm sure they referred to the police box model as a "penny Tardis." And of course the earlier Dalek cakes BP edition opened with the Who theme in 1965.
