As robkeeley has pointed out on another thread, this was a two-part story, but the second part is missing. Hats off to Talking Pictures for still showing it. In the unlikely event part one was shown on a mainstream channel someone would likely complain.

If my memory is correct there was a suggestion Ian was feeling left out after Phil got all the publicity following the missing Troughton recoveries and he may have been indulging in a bit of attention seeking hence the hoax - if that is what it was. Don't have any verification of this of course.

Just heard the run commences on 13th January? The first episode listed will clearly be an indication of which of the existing episodes will be shown. 7.20 pm. Postman's Knock (1956). Great that will be the news many of us have been hoping for then. Looks like all the surviving episodes.

Although the information we have says that David Holman recorded right up to the end of 'The Three Doctors' (and this overview supports that), I wonder if there is any indication that he didn't record every episode up to the end of that story? After all, Graham Strong stopped recording after 'The Wheel in Space' and we know that viewing figures were much lower for Season Six, so I wonder if there were factors which made Holman stop recording then, also, and then maybe commence again during the Pertwee era? Hence, the BBC only having the Australian recordings available as the 'best' source when they released 'The Space Pirates' CD in 2003? Apologies I can only throw up more questions, rather than providing an answer, but I would be interested to find out more. Of course people did go on holidays at various times of the year where they may not have had access to a television set. When the first Peter Cushing movie was shown for the first time on BBC1 we were in a holiday chalet which had a TV and it was no problem to take the portable cassette recorder in the car to capture the soundtrack. However a more bulky reel to reel tape recorder would have been more of a challenge particularly if travelling by train or coach. Equally a two week holiday would still allow someone like Holman to record some episodes of a six parter.

Do we know if it is black and white or colour? Good news indeed, regardless.

I think the problem with so many threads and rumours been resurrected or Frankensteined is that the majority is coming from new members to the forum. They may have been around for ages until joining up or complete newbies to missing tv as a whole which if you put into perspective is understandable for someone completely new to say Dr Who. This makes it very difficult to weed out which is genuine discussion from new or old members and hyped up red cordial "I've made a connection!" syndrome. There needs to be a fine balance between yes resurrecting old threads for re-evaluation and just blatant wringing and old sock out till its completely dry. Q: can we please do better than this? A: it's over to you the members and public. A lot of the resurrected threads could actually be started as new. It just looks bizarre to see a gap of say four years for example between posts on the same thread. I guess one solution might be to lock or delete old threads after a certain time span but that said nobody forces anyone to read the `resurrections.`

Angel stop bringing up long dead threads back up. You do this all the time and add nothing to the discussion. I am tired of you and I am sure other members are too. I think Angel is the new Jake. Or perhaps even the old Jake!

Ok thanks, George, so there definately was a 3 part TP VHS bootleg knocking about in the UK in the 80s? There were bootleg copies of all the existing episodes in the UK from at least the mid 1980s.

Yes a fine series for sure. It was released on DVD and coincidentally I watched the last episode the other day. Won't spoil it for anyone but there's this really good scene towards the end when..................................

I love that you have a diagram for this Are there more? It was quite easy to do as there were only three sets of prints. The info came from BroaDWcast and Wiped. Well done - always good to give credit to the researchers John.

Ever thought what would be lost if Google / YouTube went belly up? Good point. The VHS tapes from which many of these poor quality transfers come have probably been binned already in many cases. So they're already some way along the road to extinction. Interesting point yes if YT were to disapear. But on the plus side its certain that anything of interest on there will have been downloaded multiple times so there will be more copies out there than before.
