Hello all. Im doing my normal search for any film prints on Google. i was searching for Web of Fear this time and found someone who claims to have ep 1+2. They say they will not return them to the BBC as they will not pay for them. He paid £200 from Australia apperently. Here is the link to the forum. Just have a read of the bits for Web of Fear. Im going to the forum and explain a few things to them. Also form what I can gather aswell that there maybe other episodes. monsterkidclassichorrorforum.yuku.com/topic/31103/What-s-the-most-obscure-film-you-have-a-copy-of?page=6

Now, I think I have seen that thread before. It might have been linked to from here, I can't recall. Of course it would be very nice to know that such a prime piece of Troughton survives, but it is so easy to make up tall tales on the internet in a fairly anonymous manner that I always take these things with a large pinch of salt. Best bet is join the forum and send the poster a polite private message and see what they have to say on the matter Although I expect a few people will have already done this and if they are hoaxing (most likely) its probably best not to give them any attention!

This is an old one. It's been looked at and deemed to be nothing more than a hoax.

Im in agreement that the person doesnt have web of fear. That being said for throughness, Im sure that we can satisfy the guys needs (and greed) upon confirmation that it exists. No sense working ourselves up until there is some proof. A member should contact the guy privately and say, "you want money? you got it,.. now show us the goods and we'll see who is the honest one here." The post is a year and a half old.. however, who wants to be the spokesperson and put him to the test. I believe I know which2 on the site from fotr. perhaps I can get him to join our cause. My thoughts are that if he's real, we got no problem finding him compensation.. lets get some proof like 10 missing seconds on youtube or emailed. If he has it, he can prove it without giving it up. If he cant prove himself, then lets call him out and embarrass him in front of his friends.

A friend of mine at another forum found the exact same thing you did a year ago. He brought this potential lead to a fellow named Ash Stewart. After questioning by Ash, the man came clean and admitted to not having any missing episodes.

Hey John, I did not find the lead.. I am merely responding here Just to clarify so I am not the cause of such gossip. As for thinking you found the lead, I was wrong about that. I also think your time would be better served in searching for a possible lead instead of going after hoaxers in an attempt to embarrass them. I am concerned about potential backfire in searching for lost material if people do try to raise hell with that specific poster. Let's just say that the man ends up being humiliated by a group of people for saying that he had a lost episode. There is the possibility that others with lost material could be watching what's happening to him, and they most likely aren't going to want to be put in that same position. If I had material and I saw somebody getting that kind of treatment, I would be very hesitant to say anything. The best thing is to send potential leads as private messages to Paul Vanezis and other members of the Restoration Team. Let them decide how to handle it. If you want to go through with your plan by calling him out to see if he blinks in front of his friends, then you are free to do so. Nobody here has the power to stop you from doing that.

Singapore still leads to open questions but selling on ebay? Remeber you have to have a computer to sell on ebay and even a novice who had an episode in their posession can just type the name on the net and find out what it is and if we are looking for them.
