lol this tread will be the cause of excitement 20 years from now. I can see the headlines now... "Man discovers socks in drawer, can now stop using film cans on feet".

If time travel was invented I wonder how long before Doctor Who fans pounce on it to try and get back the missing episodes...

If time travel is/was/shall be has been invented, then the Doctor Who fans will/have done/will have been going to have done have got back the episodes already.
If you catch my gist.
Personally, I think the 'getting the episodes back from deep space' is more likely to happen.

But they might only bring it back to their own time in the future... Personally, I think the 'getting the episodes back from deep space' is more likely to happen. There's a missed Star Trek crossover episode, the Enterprise picks up episode beams sent out long ago.

Andrew,
Potentially easier for the time travelling Whovians to stop the junkings in the first place? And then to go on to prevent Michael Grade getting his job and thus preventing the hiatus, etc?
The thing is though that, whilst we can still see things like 'Timelash' and 'Timeflight' and "...of the Rani" in the episode guides, we can safely assume that future Whovians have not learned to time travel.
Or else they've realised that all of these Bad Things were worth it for the glory of Season 58 and the 75th Anniversary episode starring Doctors Bieber, Montana, Boyle and Matt Smith 'trapped in time' and wearing a large fedora to hide his baldness and enormous size.

Potentially easier for the time travelling Whovians to stop the junkings in the first place? Thus creating a paradox, you invalidate your reasons for going back in time. If you left in 2012 to return to 1972 (or 1967 if you want to save The Feast of Steven) then you should really return to 2012, because to everyone else the episodes are still "missing". Just nick the telerecordings for the 105 episodes and come back, marking on the sheet that they were junked on your way out the door. If you show up in 1978 proclaiming to be a hero of millions you would change history. Then those dragon things will come after you.
