Interesting. It's an announcement of an announcement. In past cases you just had the straight announcement of what has been found. I wonder what makes this one different?

Mission to the Unknown was called (Dalek Cutaway) its only one story and one episode. This should have been found long ago becouse we are only looking for one episode not a few. There is no logic in that statement whatsoever. If someone looked for a story called Dalek Cutaway would that help? You've done this before, but I seriously think you underestimate the people out there looking...

I suppose the only chance DIT has is if contracts are re-negotiated, but only for a special Children in Need release from which all profits are donated to that year's campaign totals.
But I don't think anyone would deem it to be worth the trouble.

Tenth Planet is not the best in the looks department.
I'm sure someone can advise where the prints are from, or at least where we think they're from. Whether they were in the library in 1978 or later returned from overseas or not has no baring on the quality. The quality varies from episode to episode. An episode from a negative is going to be better than a print, but even then it means nothing as a telerecoring could just be substandard to start with. It is by no means a linear process.

I personally think nothing of it. But knowing what some people are like maybe it was a little 'reckless' on Steve's part?

Wasn't there a tape labelled EoW 5 which turned out to have been reused? I believe the only surviving tape was of Episode 3, which has Blue Peter on it. I assume this is what you are referring to?

Some people are so passionate that they feel and treat the BBC as some evil individual that destroyed the episodes out of spite. It was a system. A very common system at the time. Flawed it was, but that's the way it was. There were some exceptions as mentioned by Daniel in the previous post, but it's happened and the BBC has no obligation to try and make up for it by doing anything some angry fans want them to do. It's easy to say that this should happen, why don't they do this, yadda yadda. It's easy for some people to treat it as if they owe them something as if they're truly entitled to it just for liking the programme.
The fact is that there's more to the world and these rumours mean nothing to an organisation the size of the BBC. If it's true, let them get on with it. Being moany and self-righteous against the 'evil corporation' is doing nothing but making people look silly and causing themselves unnecessary stress.

The bbc should put this to rest once and for all. Why should they? What if there isn't anything? It's rumour. The BBC doesn't owe anyone anything. I know all the possible arguments against that, but they really don't. If there is something, then they'll announce it when they think is best. If there isn't anything then I'm sure they've got better things to be dealing with.

Yes, the root of this 17th rumour is quite clear - unlike that of the rest of it.
Not saying it's any more credible, but don't throw all of the rumours into the same pot as such.

The Time Warrior? I don't think Invasion of the Dinosaurs had all of it's episodes done.

I still think someone has EP 4 and its out there somewhere But why? The fact is that unless someone has seen a copy of it, no-one knows what may or may not exist. That is indisputable fact. By saying you think it's out there based on nothing but an empty hunch, you're only setting yourself up for potential disappointment.
