Global Moderator Vanezis accidentally deleted the last thread, so let's start again. This time, with a poll.

Paul, can you please kill all of this by confirming that there are currently 106 episodes of Doctor Who missing from the BBC's archives and also that the whereabouts of any of these episodes is also unknown. Pretty please.

The thread was missingepisodes.proboards.com/thread/8880It's a shame that forum threads don't seem to be in the Google Cache - and are too recent to appear at archive.org (perhaps it will appear there someday ... hmm it seems it's in California and Egypt - how fitting at the Library of Alexandria!

Pretty please. Allow me to replace one of the posts deleted with the old thread - PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRAW OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS OR STATEMENTS from people who have a connection (past or present, whoever that person is and however tenuous that connection may or may not be) with attempts to recover missing material. If at any stage there is anything to announce, it will be announced, and if there isn't, well there's no point in asking. So please don't.

What Rob said there. It is poor form and if there is anything to announce it will be announced when the time is right!

If the rumours are false... well, we're no worse off.
If the rumours are true... well, it'll be great but knowing it now (in advance of any hypothetical announcement) won't bring us and closer to seeing any recovered episodes.

Yes,but all these comic analogies to the state of the archives and general missing episode artefacts isn't progressing this thread one jot,nor are they alerting posters to the fact that in the past 48 hours many,in my opinion, innocuous posts and an entire thread have been deleted, and for what reason?Yeah, great,a new rumours thread, but it's providing jack sh*t to the posters signed up to this site.Very, very unsatisfying state of affairs IMHO!Deliberate and consistent deletion of posts does nobody any favours and only deepens the feeling of conspiracies behind the rumours,as well as making posters feel that even posting on this site is a complete waste of time! Did you get out of bed the wrong side this morning? Good grief... People are just making light of the situation, which is no bad thing. Let's face it, that's preferable to some of what's been posted in previous threads on the subject. As for post deletions, they've been made for entirely justifiable reasons and not for reasons that suggest any suppression of information. Generally they have been deleted because people were picking on each other, which contravenes the forum rules. As for Paul's accidental deletion of the thread, it seems sad to me that people are questioning what was clearly a slip of the trigger finger. Paul's a very intelligent chap and would know that his deletion of the thread could easily be misinterpreted by those who seem obsessed by conspiracy theories, so therefore it had to be an accident. I think we should accept that with good grace and move on.

Hello lads & lass - a newbie here.
I really want to believe in these rumours + kinda do
However, until I hear something official I'm going to keep everything in.... and then explode!

I'm back up to about 60% believer but had dropped down to about only 5% but it's back and forth. I think at the least there has been some really weird things going on but until an announcent is made or someone finally says there are still 106 missing I imagine I'll just keep going back and forth depending on the latest and greatest being said at the time.

I don't believe anything has been returned. Lots of chat, no evidence.
What do I believe is going on? Simple circular repetition of the same information gradually embellished in the telling by people who want to look 'in the know' and privy to 'important information' from "trusted sources".
It's all poppycock based on wish fulfilment fantasies with not a scrap of evidence.
The word I am reading a lot here is 'belief'.
Not 'knowledge'.
Please don't let the non-return of long destroyed prints spoil your enjoyment of the 50th celebrations!
