Paul Vanezis is quoted as saying that there's no truth that missing episodes have been found in Ethiopia, and he'd have been very pleased if some had been. DWM editor says he knows nothing about finds. If you look at Paul's comment on the locked 'Daily Mirror article' thread,in reference to the story, headlined "106 Doctor Who episodes found in Ethiopia",he tersly states that it is "sadly untrue" that they have been.So there you are. That does not mean that episodes in a group of a number between 1-105 haven't been found.

I agree paul is just saying sadly 106 is untrue, not that 9 or 10 have been found

This is a hoax, simple as. This doesn't at all match your public comments on Facebook, where you acknowledge the negotiations to release this have been going on between the BFI, BBC, and a certain party for years. And yet here you pretend it's a hoax. Isn't that trolling?

I hadn't caught that the Guardian is now specifying Thursday for the announcement.

I really want to go through my copy of Dick Fiddy's 'Missing Believed Wiped' book and draw in little 'recovered' stamps at an angle over the individual episode entries in it's list of missing Dr. Who episodes.I'm quite creative like that...

And yet here you pretend it's a hoax. Isn't that trolling? There have been a number of Facebook posts revealed today that have shown people have known about these negotiations for a very long time despite public denials. And yes I have seen the posts quoted I implore the parties to settle this once and for all. Surely it must end soon?

I'm new to the debate, but having read as "close" to a BBC statement as I can find in the Radio Times - the two quotes say a lot (to me). (A) "We cannot confirm any new finds.” and (B) “We can’t confirm because it’s not true, as far as I’m aware."

Simon, for what it's worth, these are fairly old quotes. The first doesn't say that there haven't been any finds. It answers the question, which wasn't put,"Can you confirm any finds, even if there have been any". the second quote was from a lady who said that she, personally didn't know about any.

Indeed- I am just new to the debate and trying to find some semblance of truth - of which there is little - only speculation.

All,
I'm going to lock the thread now in keeping with other forums discussing the rumours. There is no longer anything to be gained in endlessly tramping over old ground. If there is an announcement of any sort, we'll open a new thread then. This will stay locked.
Paul
