That statement from the Guardian that the BBC has recovered episodes, seems to be the first unqualified statement I've seen, from a major media outlet.
So that's pretty much official then. They also note that the press conference is now on Thursday, but they then qualify that it's expected to be about announcing the return of missing episodes.
Hopefully we can now end the silliness of "nothing has been returned" and actually discuss what may have been returned.

ok 'if' there are any recoveries from Africa, what are the chances of the return of Dads Army or TOTP from this country too. Were these programs also sold there?

The rumours of this Doctor Who find often seemed combined with rumours of finding some missing Dads Army too ... so if the Doctor Who find is true (and how can I argue with the Guardian) I'd say the chances are very, very, good. I'm not sure about TOTP though ...

Damaged is what I've been led to believe also, hence the delays in releasing them, and some may not be released for some time to come because of the damage. But thinking about it,the imminent release on digital platforms of missing episodes is a highly innovative and fresh approach by the BBC to make them available to fans.Whatever may happen by the end of the week,it is ( was ) a good idea! Does the "or damaged" mean these are clean versions of damaged episodes already held by the BBC? Do we know of any episodes which are damaged but unreleased? Sorry if this is a bit anal but I need to keep my mind busy until at least Thursday.

I always heard that the missing episodes of Dad's Army were never tele-recorded, as they had a hard time getting them sold overseas, and that the only reason we have the other ones is because tele-recordings were made for the bigwigs to present examples for when they were making the Dad's Army movie... I may be wrong, but that's what I heard.

Should we separate out the last half-dozen pages, the post-sensation ones-into a distinct thread? We could name it the Found (we hope) thread...

Most of that was yesterday, but today the BBC themselves stated that there's a pending announcement. The mods were all out for denying this at first, probably because they weren't meant to announce it, so that will likely explain why the BBC are pushing back the announcement, and why people like Paul have gone quiet over it. Maybe it IS true, and so they have nothing to say to anyone, since we can see the answer for ourselves?

Paul Vanezis is quoted as saying that there's no truth that missing episodes have been found in Ethiopia, and he'd have been very pleased if some had been. DWM editor says he knows nothing about finds. If you look at Paul's comment on the locked 'Daily Mirror article' thread,in reference to the story, headlined "106 Doctor Who episodes found in Ethiopia",he tersly states that it is "sadly untrue" that they have been.So there you are.

Because no missing episodes are likely to not have been found in Ethopia. However, what chances of episode finds in other African countries, Singapore, Hong Kong???

"BBC postpone big reveal" maybe there was an embargo the mirror breached this and got a bol***ing from the BBC, the BBC have told them to run with it's now Thursday instead, but the announcement may go ahead tomorrow as a surprise and also to avoid lots of fans turning up?
Just a random thought, it's funny how the mirror were first to report the press conference then first to report the postponement?
