The cliffhanger to Episode Three was restored as far back as the VHS release - I still have a copy! But likely in better quality for the DVD. Thanks for clarifying!

Let me explain in a kind way to you. The surviving location film was created by transfering footage from the original 35mm color film to 16mm b/w. This was mostly done to make a practice copy, so the editors can know where to cut, so the cut is perfectly done on the now-lost color version. That's why the 16mm inserts still exist, because some editor didn't throw his edit print away. So, it's a 1st gen copy, not 2nd gen. Not sure how you figure out that footage which has been transferred from colour film to black and white film is still 1st gen…

I may be jumping to conclusions here, but I think it's just possible that they may have considered that...

If any what countries either PAL/NTSC did broadcast the uncensored episode prior to been edited? Obviously not Australia which was locally dealt the dredded A rating and skipped but was the story sent back or (say) locally archived? And presumably the 1987 broadcast was the censored version? Canada and the United States. Ian's off-air U-Matic tape was made by copying Tom Lundie's Betamax recording. Lundie is the same American fam that provided off-air color copies of many 3rd Doctor episodes. Lundie gave all his Betamax tapes to Ian, who them made U-Matic tapes for the BBC to have in their collection. He still haves the original Betamax tapes to this day. No it wasn't - you're thinking of the colour Pertwees. The original uncut Deadly Assassin 3 was only ever shown once in the whole world - in the UK, on BBC1, and that's where Ian recorded it from, because shortly after transmission, the master tape was edited. Any repeats or overseas sales were made from the edited master tape, up to the point where the cliffhanger was restored for the DVD.

More from MIM Concentration S1 ep9 (missing) And an episode of How. Not missing, but it exists as a recording on domestic video. But this has the pre-credits title board thing, I don't know what it's called. You wouldn't get that on an off-air recording. Does that mean this is the transmission tape, or if not then a better copy? www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMwzc30qtaMMaybe whoever was supposed to wipe the original transmission tape wanted to keep a copy for themselves, so they secretly recorded to the domestic video before wiping the original transmition tape. This looks like a capture of the TX master, not a domestic recording of the TX master. We've already established that it's not a missing edition, so there's no reason to think it would be a domestic recording, secret or otherwise.

I think radiation proof is one thing - whether that also means moisture proof is quite another.
Quite apart from anything else, is there anything to suggest this actually happened..? If so, what format..?

I might be wrong, but were a better set of prints recovered from somewhere maybe last year or the year before I believe Phil Morris found an episode of Steptoe called My Old Man's a Tory which was a better quality version to the one that we had originally. Did he actually return it, or just admit to having found it..?

And then the answer comes: "So, I'm a trainee management consultant..." Why "so"? No one's said anything prior to connect with what you're saying! Since "Millionaire" and "Weakest Link" all gameshows have looked and felt the same. You should give “I Literally Just Told You” a go.

When will the whole cutting copy/raw film sequences be released in full publicly? Given that this information hasn’t yet been announced or possibly even decided, and the only people who would know are either psychic or not allowed to say, the answer is “don’t know, you’ll have to wait and see”. As a rule, that’s the answer to any “when will X happen” question that hasn’t been announced, it’s pointless to ask.

Yep, my bad. I got that story confused with the Space Pirates. And please don't use that phrase 'my bad'.Grammatically wrong social media slang.Sorry. Contrary to the above post, members are at liberty to use that phrase if they wish.

Maybe for future Blu-Ray releases, they can give the fans an option to watch 60s Doctor Who in either Black and White or to view it in a colorized format. We do have the behind the scene photographs of many episodes both missing and existing, so it can be colorized accurate to the photographs. If they want to see it in color, it's up to them. If they want to see it in black and white as intended, it's up to them. Whenever they have released a story with significantly different visuals (ie replaced SFX), the standard version has always been there, usually as the default. For the forthcoming release of The Daleks In Colour, the standard black and white version will still be there. There's no reason to think that won't continue to be the case.

Incorrect. Wheel is (at least mainly) based on the Graham Strong tapes, recorded in the UK, if you look at the acknowledgements.

Because nothings been said on the forum for a bit so some feel the need to say something regardless of any point. 🤷 Correct! Well then please stop doing that. If you have something valid to add to the conversation, then fine, but posting repeated information just for the sake of it really irritates people.
