The search for missing episodes will always continue and hopefully more will be found. But that is seperate from the Omni rumor that had 90 + recoverd and being restored and released on I Tunes and DVD. That rumor is dead to me. Time to move on. I think the reason most of us have cut back on posting as we just dont have any news to report or new leads at this time and rather than post for the sake of posting people inclusing my self have just stopped posting. I made a bit of an exception for this thread but it is not leading anywhere

What a terrible state of affairs.A legion of fans who fell in love with a TV programme at a young age, being held in a state of emotional limbo either by real market forces or by a purely fictitious rumour which shows no sign of abating. And another thing, especially reading about the postscript to the recovery of Tomb over 20 years ago in DWM Cybermen Special, what will be PM's legacy? What will history say about him or us-that we were a bunch of saps that believed anything we were told? And if people really want to be remembered as heros, then surely it's what they do in the present which will determine whether they are remembered in a favourable light in the future. That is to say, whatever the story behind the scenes, all parties involved need to come clean about what's really happening. History will never forget.

Personally I never believed in the omni rumour and wasn't going to until it was proved to be true. But I really really REALLY hoped it was true. Or should that be, I really hope it is true???
One thing that has occurred to me though, Troughton and Hartnell episodes are close to coming out of copyright in some jurisdictions. Once they are, presumably there wouldn't be anything stopping someone making money selling DVDs of them? I suppose the main point against that it seems that film collectors enjoy having something unique, they wouldn't want large numbers of copies on DVD out there!

The missing episodes are Doctor Who, which is still being made by the BBC, so the title, the character, and the Police Box TARDIS will be copyright for at least another few decades even if production stops.
I've been watching a doco about Georges Melies. He made 500 films, but destroyed all his negs and prints once his popularity faded. More prints were destroyed once sound film arrived, so at the end of his life only eight of his films were known to survive. We now have 200 of them, even Trip To The Moon in colour, something that was thought gone forever. So, even though I doubt "The Ninety", I don't think it's "over".

A lot of that is trademark related issues rather than copyright, so it might impact more on how you could merchandise it (i.e. the dvd cover probably couldn't have the TARDIS on it). I'm not so sure that would prevent sales of an out of copyright film. Then again, I'm no lawyer and intellectual property rights have all sorts of complicated layers (and vary from country to country!).

If this year is like last year then some episodes will be back and being worked on by people who'll have had to sign an NDA stopping them even mentioning that they know what Doctor Who is without fear of fines, imprisonment and extradition to whatever country we've currently sub-contracted to do all our torturing for us.
And we will find out in October. So I'm waiting until October.

So no surprise DWM and like say what they do. Thats even if they know, which is very unlikely !

What makes you think we'll have an announcement in October Richard? Its an opinion that needs no explanation, Just thats what we feel A lot of people had the same feeling in their water about Easter and look what happened there...Just because bank holidays and October are associated with good vibes doesn't mean that these dates aren't really just arbitrary. You may as well just pull a date out of a hat for all the good it'll do.The announcement might come Monday morning or never at all!

I said "If this year is like last year" :-)
Anyway - I know nothing. I'm just giving it until the end of the year before I go back to my "pre-October-2013" mode of thinking.
