Think: To have a particular opinion, belief, or idea about something. Hope: Wanting something to happen.
I also think it's out there somewhere. Sorry to be pedantic, and I'm not trying to rattle any cages, but it's a bit like religion, until you can prove them wrong you can't say people are wrong.

I think this comes back to Schrodingers cat, until the episode is found it both exists and doesn't exist

Singapore passed 'The War Machines' on to Nigeria, it's possible the following went there too: Galaxy 4 The Myth Makers The Massacre of St Bartholomew's Eve The Celestial Toymaker The Savages The Smugglers The Tenth Planet Power of the Daleks I guess the best we can hope for is to have a full archive check in both Singapore and Nigeria to check for BBC prints. I doubt that's realistic though. Once it was checked it'd either prove or disprove all of this: www.walesonline.co.uk/whats-on/film-tv/rare-doctor-who-episodes-rumoured-4571617The Nigerian archives were checked back in 80s- that's where the copies of "The Time Meddler", "The War Machines" and (IIRC) a copy of "The Web Planet" were returned from.

If only we knew how to wheedle our way into the world where the cat's still alive and kicking!

If only we knew how to wheedle our way into the world where the cat's still alive and kicking! Yeah, but then we'd probably manage to recover Marco Polo from another dimension - only to find that it starred Geoffrey Bayldon instead of William Hartnell.

Hello! I'm a long time lurker of many, many moons and can't remember if this specific issue has been discussed before so forgive me if it has, but I remember reading an article in a Doctor Who Magazine (It was called Monthly back then) way back in the 80's about Tenth Planet 4 being discovered, but the tape was damaged. If I remember correctly, the tape was stuck or sticking? This would've been somewhere around 1985. In the same magazine, there was also an article about possible colorization of old Who episodes and there was a picture of Polly from Tenth Planet that had been colored as an example and they made her hair pink for some odd reason. Anyhoo, if TP4 was discovered but deemed too damaged to do anything with, would it be possible that that issue could be fixed with today's technology? Was a copy of TP4 found in the 80's but was too damaged to be of any use?

Yes, an April fool's joke. Much hilarity followed.

IIRC the colourisation was an april fools and the tape was a hoax (maybe the infamous Blackpool hoaxer)? Yes, an April fool's joke. Much hilarity followed. Rather embarrassingly, when the Colourised Tenth Planet April Fools joke was published in DWM 88, I got so excited I wrote a letter to the ABC asking if they could screen it. I totally missed that it was an April Fools joke. My excuse - I was 9.
