I got an email from him saying -- "SORRY ALL NOW SOLD TO PRIVATE COLLECTOR IN USA FOR OFFER WE COULD NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT REFUSING".
Rearranging the letters, we get "HOAX".
1) He never gave anyone any more details about what the other episodes were - how could someone make him "an offer he couldn't refuse " without knowing what they were buying
2) He never asked any of the other people who were interested to make offers - no business person in their right mind would accept an offer from one person without checking with the other people who had expressed interest. Or at very least left a few up on ebay to see what might happen
3) Why would this mystery collector in the USA suddenly make him this offer that was so high that he pulled the auctions when they could simply have bid on the films and probably won them?
Sounds like pretty classic hoax stuff...

I think it is pretty safe to say that we all really knew that this was a hoax right from the start. Even if the listing went to the end and someone won it, they would never have got anything let alone a missing episode. No chance of Yeti in underground then, by the way has he told anyone what the other episodes were that he "claimed to have"?

At the least you can forward the email to ebay abuse - they claim to be able to match addresses/names etc and will ban anyone indefinitely for selling off ebay. Stuart (going back into his cynical shell and never coming out again)

Sounds like pretty classic hoax stuff... I think we can definitely say this is a hoax - the seller said no private offers and wouldn't tell anyone the titles of the other episodes, yet has managed to sell all the episodes to someone making a private offer! And what did he achieve? Nothing. No one believed it was real and, if anyone, it gave us something to talk about whilst this forum has been relatively quiet. ;D

Does anyone else think that the hoaxer is "local", perhaps a poster on this board or on the RT forum?

I dunno. He's an incomming colege freshman last I heard, so I have no clue where he'd get the money for those films. He should be saving it for Boise State tickets (but if you really do have that kind of money, Lance, how about getting me some tix for the Boise/UGA game) ;D

Hey, I wish it was me who purchased the film prints. Then I could return missing material if any was found. As for the tickets, I wish I had the extra money, I would buy you one. I guess it is back to Ian Levine and his mysterrious searching for missing material.
Lance.

the seller states that he has been advised NOT to show the film pubic ally. Shame, Pubic Ally sounds quite interesting! ;D
