Just spotted a link on the Restoration Team's forum to an auction for Flight Through Eternity (The Chase 3) on 16mm film: cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6410858628&fromMakeTrack=trueI found it quite interesting - it appears to be one of at least eleven Doctor Who films recently purchased from a private collection. If you read through the questions and answers section, the seller is currently unaware of which episodes the others are at the moment, but will be selling them on eBay in the future. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? How likely is it that the episodes are just those much discussed pirated copies made during the eighties?

Hello,
That listing certainly was interesting. It certainly sounds genuine, normally prints of Chase ep 6 have circulated, so it is interesting that three should appear. The seller claims to have 11 more prints of 16mm who, that he will be selling the films one by one. As you van see from the question and answer Columns the BBC has contacted the seller. This looks quite promising, I hope there turns to be a missing episode or two in this batch, cross your fingers.
Lance.

Well... you never know LanceM - it could turn out to be a complete edition of "The Power of the Daleks" and the rest of "The Web of Fear"... ;D

Is The Chase 3 one of the pirated prints? If not, it certainly could be promising, although we're more likely to see duplicates of already existing episodes. It would be great if we could at least get unedited copies of The War Machines 3 and 4 (and The Time Meddler 4)!

The Chase Part 3 was NOT one of the prints that was duped in the '80s.
But don't get your hopes up -- this smells a lot like a hoax .... Hope I'm wrong....

I've just been reading through the Restoration Team thread and it is starting to sound like a hoax. These posts are worth reading: www.rtforum.co.uk/read.php?id=116731www.rtforum.co.uk/read.php?id=116738www.rtforum.co.uk/read.php?id=116742If it is a hoax, I wonder if the person visits this board. It was only days ago that I enquired about the episodes that were supposed to be sold on eBay after the new series had aired. Maybe it's the same person behind the Marco Polo and The Myth Makers hoaxes. (Can't remember his name - John?) It's like The Knight of Jaffa all over again!

Their auction description has been updated and now seriously reeks of being a hoax. Shame.
It's interesting how many fans jump in and ask the same questions, though. I now understand how it is that silly, unfounded rumours spread so quickly amongst fandom without any evidence.

I thought that the updated version had more of the ring of truth about it - as though someone in the know (RT maybe) had ocntacted the seller to inform him of the potential hugeness of a find of so many 60s Who films. Probably just wishful thinking, I suppose... Stuart

Probably just wishful thinking, I suppose... Stuart They seem quite desperate to imply that they've got something valueable and to keep us interested. I've been reading through the RT thread where a few people have pointed out inconsitancies and other suspicious points. Having said that, I wouldn't write it off as a hoax just yet, but it does seem likely. I bet one of the next few episodes turns out to be a missing episode and they'll be very keen to pretend they don't realise or they'll just go quiet like that "Jaffa" auction.

It seems from the updated auction definition that, there could be a hoax involved. But it is sounding like there could be something indeed that has been found ! All we can do at this moment is to wait and see what happens with this mysterious ebay seller. I only hope that it does not turn out to be a hoax like the Knight of Jaffa hoaxer that I found. I wonder how long we will have to wait for proof of found who material ?

I'm a little concerned for those bidding on the auction as it's beginning to sound like there might not even be a print of Flight Through Eternity, never mind missing episodes.
How much was The Knight of Jaffa sold for?

I am sure that the two bidders realise that It could and most likely is a hoax, I doubt very much that they will part with any of their cash unless they are reasonably satisfied that the episode does exist. By the way, do you expect them to list the other items, they allegedly have?

By the way, do you expect them to list the other items, they allegedly have? It depends. If they read this board or the RT forum, then I think they'll do the opposite of what we predict. If not, then I think they will list one or two more existing episodes and then a missing episode. Failing that, they'll probably go quiet and try to by mysterious about what they actually have.

I dont know whether you have checked the listing but he has put up for sale, The snows of Terror from Keys of Marinus and The search from Space Museum, incomplete. These all exist, but he still has another 8 to list so we could still see the emperor dalek or yeti in the underground!
