That edition of Juke Box Jury had been shown sometime during the last 20 years (I have it on tape somewhere), though the online BBC Programme Catalogue is currently out of action so can't find out if/when it was a BBC repeat. (Channel 4's TV Heaven is another possibility for a showing.)
It was great to see a 1968 TOTP with the original links intact where possible; the missing segment was handled very well in that you could perhaps tell that something was absent but the edit didn't disrupt the flow of the programme and you could almost imagine it being repeated like that during the sixties. Musically it wasn't bad either, with nothing dire enough to warrant muting the sound whilst watching!

It seems as though Noel has kissed and made up with the BEEB. Lets hope so. A lot of my fave shows from the 70s had our Noel introducing them. On the subject of shows by Cilla Black and Cliff being repeated, I agree, it would be superb to see those again. I always remember Cilla crying at the end of the final show in one of her series. I have got a superb 3 DVD set of Tom Jones TV series, complete shows from the late 60s and early 70s. That was great TV. Marvellous to see again. BTW, When I first bought SKY in 1993, one of the main reasons was the re-runs of TOTP on SKY GOLD. Why dont SKY GOLD re-run some of those shows again. Is there a reason for this ? Ive written on 3 occasions to SKY and have yet to receive an answer. Im sure one of you guys will know why !! Cheers, Eric.

(Channel 4's TV Heaven is another possibility for a showing.) I recall this edition being screened on BBC2 during an archive season celebrating one of the BBC anniversaries... late 80s seem to spring to mind. I'm fairly certain it was followed by Adam Faith's "Face To Face" and that an episode of "Hancocks Half Hour" was shown the same night. Though its an interesting edition, I felt it was a pity BBC4 didn't show the other existing show from a few weeks earlier since I'm certain that one has never been given a repeat. How sad and strange that of 8 years worth of shows only 2 survive complete and both from within weeks of each other in late 1960!

The David McCallum/Jill Ireland episode i thought was the only one in the archives? No. There is one from October 1960 I recall... it was definitely a few weeks before the McCallum show. Can't remember the panellists (Infax being offline doesn't help - it was detailed there) but a couple of clips from it were used in episode 2 of "Sounds Of The 60s" where Juke Box Jury footage linked the musical items. There is one bloke saying that he'd "put my money in the jukebox" and there's a woman who says something about Roy Orbison that neatly went into the "Oh Pretty Woman" clip. I believe these clips come from this earlier edition. I have read elsewhere in this forum that there are brief clips from later shows in existence but sadly just the 2 complete shows from late 1960 and nothing else in the BBC archive.Hope this info helps.

The other complete existing edition is from 29/10/60 and features Carmen McRae, Pete Murray, Nancy Spain and Richard Wyler on the panel, plus guest appearance by Ted Taylor.
The edition that has just been repeated was previously shown in the "TV50" strand on 2/11/86, between "Face to Face" (indeed with Adam Faith) and "The Forsyte Saga". No "Hancock's Half Hour" that evening, indeed no episode was shown in TV50, though the series of BBC1 repeats that had started in February 86 began its second series on the 2nd of December. (TV Heaven, by the way, didn't show any complete BBC programmes.)
There are clips from a couple of 1967 editions on "Talkback" around the time the series was cancelled. There are also off-air soundtracks from a number of episodes from the early 60s, including the Beatles episode. Also, a 1960s title sequence exists.

Thanks for clarifying that Andrew about the other existing JBJ show and the clips and soundtracks... didn't know a title sequence also existed.
Thanks also for clearing up my sketchy memory of TV50... its not hard to see why 21 years later things have gotten a bit blurred to thinking a Hancock was shown as part of that season since the repeat runs did take place close to it.

Of course it won't be repeated the bbc have a habit of only repeating "modern" programs. Original programmes or repeats unedited seem to ge limited repeats compared to there surrounding programming! Anyone no the offiical answer?

It could get a repeat at some point on BBC Four. I notice they tend to show some of the older items over a period of a year or so. I've spotted Philby Burgess and McLean, Dr Who - The Web of Fear - Part 1 and The first episode of Z Cars get shown twice as part of seperate BBC Four seasons, but it may be quite a while - so don't hold your breath!

Anyone no the offiical answer? I imagine new programmes commissioned by BBC4 have the multiple screenings built into the contracts. Old programmes were commissioned at a time when it was usual for most things only to get one screening, so it seems likely that it is too expensive to show them more than once. I'm sure BBC4 would sure them more often if they could!

I think the answer though does lie in that new shows probably do have multiple sreenings built into the commisioning process. With any classic repeats it is best to record them as they seldom show them more than once.

i have the radio times for the week of TV50, would this interest anyone if i paste what was repeated then ? Same here! Be most interesting. Was it during this season that they had onscreen announcers reprising their roles from the 50's? I'm pretty sure The Goodies "Kitten Kong" was repeated with such an intro. I also seem to recall it was this season that featured the last repeat of "Go With Noakes" a series I'd dearly love to see again!
