Most viewers do not tolerate B/W anymore. Gareth Randall and many others who work or have worked for the BBC and ITV keep telling geeks this, but so many refuse to listen. I've heard of one Dr Who fan who even watches the colour stories in black & white because he didn't have a colour set at the time & felt they looked strange in colour!

Wasn’t Mind Robber recorded on 625 lines? It was indeed - everything from 'The Enemy of the World' was on 625-line videotape, although several episodes of the later Troughton era were broadcast from 35mm film, one of which being 'The Mind Robber: Episode 5'. However, I think Gary is referring to 'The Daleks' originally being recorded on 405-line videotape, so it will be intriguing to see how this fares as a colour story.
