Why? Restoring colour to B/W Pertwee episodes is one thing. They were intended to be seen in colour. Colourizing B/W movies is something else.

I’ve never quite understood this apparent obsession with colourising everything - especially since the results are usually underwhelming. Colourised 60’s ‘Who has novelty value I suppose but ultimately just seems like an exercise in futility really.
Still, for those who can’t bare to watch anything in black and white anymore this must be great news! As always, each to their own.

Personally i'm not in favour of colourising 60s Dr Who stories i would leave them as they are in keeping with the b/w era of the time

I've never understood the mentality of not being able to watch things in black & white, I like a lot of older TV & film & often I found the lack of colour ads to the atmosphere, especially on noir style thrillers.

No, it's confirmation that Kaleidoscope is showing some colourised clips by someone. That won't have anything to do with the BBC though.

Agreed I love Black and White footage. I’ll watch any colourisations at least once but I’ll always prefer Black and White. Granted when I was a kid I wouldn’t have watched it because it made me fall asleep but now I love it.

I clicked the link out of curiosity and was a bit like oh. Its just some clips they've probably scraped off YouTube no Biggy.

YouTube is awash with different fans colourising b/w clips.

That's cool, sure the old episodes have their own style and feel to it since they are in B&W.
However if these B&W episodes were ever completely colourised it could really bring some of the stories more to life and change the feel of the stories/episodes for the better, of course if that ever happens I hope its more as an alternative instead of replacing the B&W versions.
Stories like the Abominable Snowmen and Web of Fear fits perfectly in B&W, can't imagine those stories being better in colour.

It is colourised 1960’s Doctor Who like I said. I don’t care who it’s by or the reason for it From your title, it sounded like you were referring to the '60s colourisation rumours that have been circulating for a while now and implying that this news confirms they are true. Those rumours describe colourisations of full stories organised by the BBC: Whereas this press release refers only to clips of stories colourised by Kaleidoscope: This is clearly a different project to the one described in the rumours. It doesn't "confirm" those rumours in any way. In fact, it makes them less likely to be true. Perhaps this project is the source of the rumours and in the process of being relayed to the Mirror the details have become distorted. That said, I wouldn't discount the original rumours just yet. It is absolutely possible for two different colourisation projects to be happening, one official, one unofficial. Nicola Methven (the journalist who reported the rumour) has a good track record with Doctor Who scoops.

Yep, I also found the title misleading. The 'confirmed' makes it sound more than it is, misses out the key detail that it's also just clips - and not by the BBC. You can find examples of that on YouTube.

Of all the pointless threads recently this tops the lot. Footage freely available on you tube coloured by many fans. This really is grasping at straws. I like many long time fans here surely remember a time when missing episode threads are actually about missing episodes. How sad we have come this far and low for missing episode "news". No wonder people dispair
