I’d have preferred Wheel, thus completing Season Five, but it’s another piece of the jigsaw.

Oh dear. Don't think I'll be getting that one. Why couldn't they finance Dinopuff to finish his creepy, moody version? First, a confession: I've never been a fan of the animations, but I do realize that, with the revenue involved, they are inevitable. Also, some are better than others. That said, back in the day, both Hartnell and Troughton received justified praise for their textured and skilled characterizations so no animation could hope to fully capture the talents that had been honed over the years. The animations, IMHO, are creepily like watching animated corpses. Perhaps that's why I prefer to stare inanely at a series of telesnaps. My point: I agree with Matt. The Dinopuff sequences on YouTube offer a nuanced performance by Hartnell. They are attractive and welcoming. and creepy and moody (just like the original show). Whoever Dinopuff is, he/she seems fully aware of Hartnell's quirks and gestures. Facially, this <looks> like Hartnell, as opposed to a glove puppet. Until new and improved technology comes along, consumers should view this as the standard. Just my two cents worth!

New to the forum, but to go along with this, I'm surprised by how little the folks doing the Hartnell animations in particular seem so unfamiliar with Hartnell's performance. It's really a shame because they've done a fine job with most of the Troughton ones.

It’s worth listening to the Missing Episodes podcast for Reign of Terror where Tim and Paul chat to some of those involved in the animation of that story. They make this observation of how hard he is to animate as he can look so different story to story and even scene to scene. I know some hate Reign animation but I really like it.
Anyway this Toymaker animation does have some nice effects which makes it interesting and it is the type of story to be able to take advantage of imaginative visuals. I understand when it comes to the old classics that some would prefer as much as possible a like for like reconstruction though.

My belief is management feels they can give us any garbage and we'll pay. There are people like Josh snares who have done quality fan videos who I'm sure would jump with the offer of a professional release
Maybe it's time to put the line on hold til they're ready rather than have them complete it in low quality

The old joke is to uncover why decisions are made is to "follow the money "
Its also more interesting that that is "none of our business"
I miss the old days when Dr who Fandom was more of a community, where people cared about working together and a sharing community.
Hopefully, that heart returns.

Is it out yet, or is there a release date? I'm quite tempted to check it out now.

Amazon UK does not quote a release date as yet.
It is available for pre-order though.
