No. BT Internet withdrew their free web hosting last year, and anything that was hosted on a BT site had to be hosted elsewhere or it would be lost. This is why everyone has a number of broken graphics underneath their user name. As to whether the information was preserved and could potentially be hosted somewhere else, I'm afraid Mr Brown would have to answer that.

There is a player just under the first paragraph. Ah, thanks, my crappy work PC running Internet Explorer doesn't want me to see that, for some reason..!

Presumably it would have been considered less commercially exploitable..? Sadly, that's what a lot of it came down to...

if we don't find a missing episode, i'll be sad, also, i feel so much regret about the rumour. I'd be glad if the thread was deleted, and if it is, i'll be glad. good day. No need to delete anything further. Just let your previous posts remind you of the need to think through what you post before you click "post reply"...

It's just the BEEB being cheap. Here in america, the entire run of 2" videotape exists of The Young And The Restless from 1973. A daytime soap opera with thousands of episodes, and they managed to save THEIR tapes. You're comparing chalk and cheese here. Firstly, a commercial station, funded by advertising versus a public corporation funded by the licence fee. Far more pressure on the BBC to be seen to be spending the public's money wisely on future output, not on shows that have already been broadcast. Secondly, the future exploitation of TYatR was much greater - the programmes were made for syndication, whereas much of the BBC's output was made for one showing, and any further sales or repeats had to be negotiated and paid for. Don't forget, the unions in the UK were very powerful and could limit the amount of use that could be made of archive material, so it tended to be used once and then forgotten about. So in short, there was much more incentive in the US to keep and exploit material, hence much being destroyed over here for not having any perceived value.

I take your point, Laurence, but there are many efforts out there that make me wonder whether they were really worth the time they took...

That was done for some programmes - the repeat of Quatermass and the Pit (fortunately) was broadcast from a telerecording of the live broadcast with (most of) the film inserts edited in, which is how come the inserts exist today and were able to be included in the DVD restoration. I'm pretty sure I've seen footage of Not Only... But Also which has had film inserts put back in, with varying results...

I believe that's right - the problem with unpicking it is the spot wobble mentioned above, which effectively blends the lines of 2x+1 with those of 2x+2, making it impossible to separate them.

I think it would be useful for anyone who wanted to know when the camera shot changed (not just the scene), but as Richard says, quite why anyone would need that level of detail, I have no idea.

I think this has been talked about in the past - not so much for recreating the fluid video motion which VidFIRE deals with admirably, but for unpicking out-of-phase film inserts, for which VidFIRE is no help at all.
Unfortunately I have no idea what the outcome was!

Hello Again, With all the work being done on the future release of " The Mind Of Evil ", in Colour. Is interesting, to see some of the more prominent fan restorations on YT for this adventure! A few appeared to have disappeared which I had seen from the net, however, was able to find the best one I had seen as yet. Contains colourized footage from Episode One! www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9_H9gAL7gMCheers, Lance. Hmm, this clip is everything I hate about poor colourisation. Look at the flat skin tones and the shot of the wall. Everything is so flat and just looks as though it was done in a hurry. Babelcolour's colourisations are the only ones I have ever seen that actually look convincing, because he makes the effort to vary the tones rather than using the same colour across an entire object. I am very fussy though...
