Isolated camera recording. Usually, the way things were shot in a multi-camera studio, all the cameras would feed into the mixing desk and the vision mixer would choose the shots. The result of this choice would be recorded to tape, effectively edited in camera, but the output of all the other cameras would be lost. Sometimes though, a particular camera would be linked to a recorder and everything that it captured would be recorded independently to be edited in later.

I don't know for sure, as the rules was implemented before I became a moderator, but I imagine it's partly to try and encourage genuine interaction between real people and partly to wheedle out trolls..! The latter doesn't entirely work, unfortunately... I should add, it does make it easier to spot spambots who set up dummy accounts in order to bombard us with advertising, when the newest member of the forum is called adlconsulting or adssoftgun... I've never really understood the want to use a 'handle'. What's wrong wit h using your own name? Quite. Unless you're planning to troll on a forum, or you're embarrassed to be seen there, I see no reason to hide. Sadly, this describes quite a lot of people..!

Yes, thanks for sharing that. In fact, there's a 1964 (?) sketch from Its a Square World on the forthcoming Aztecs DVD which features Clive Dunn as the Doctor.
Just out of interest, is this your own recording..?

Exactly the same tape was used for black and white programmes as was later used for colour.

The tapes were wiped and re-used - not binned. Videotapes were extremely expensive at the time. The film prints made for overseas sales were often "binned". I thought by 1974 the BBC had stopped making programmes in b/w Actually, there's no such thing as black and white tape. Tape is tape, it's the recorded signal that is either colour or black and white. Therefore, a colour programme could be recorded on a tape that had been used for a black and white programme previously.

Yes, but some were deliberately preserved, so that wouldn't have happened.
