Yes that's true! Is it right there will be a new version of Wiped! out? I've looked online but can't see anything saying as such - only old copies being sold for about $300! Which is mad! MJ www.telos.me.uk/category.php?id=6#141I'd encourage you to support the publishers and buy direct, rather than feed the tax-dodging likes of Amazon, but that's my personal opinion and doesn't necessarily reflect the views of the forum or its owners..!

I imagine that it will have the same title as the first edition, but be marked "second edition", as is common for revised books.

Almost certainly not. It is, however, something of a minor miracle that we can at least see the other 147, and that shouldn't be sniffed at.

I suggest you pick up a copy of Wiped! when the second edition comes out. You'll find it both informative and horrifying!

Not quite true, as there have been some returned from overseas, the BFI had a few, and of course, as we know, some have turned up in private collections. Plus of course, the BBC did actually preserve a few episodes as "representative samples".

Yes, there are no master videotapes of any Hartnell or Troughton episodes in existence. All that exists today are film recordings produced by BBC Enterprises for overseas sales and a handful of 35mm transmission prints for a few episodes which were transmitted from film rather than VT.

What's more, any eBay sellers who claim that their home-produced DVDs of UK television programmes are "in the public domain" are talking out of their anuses and should be reported.

Quite. After all, the old "signals beamed into outer space" chestnut keeps coming up from time to time...
TBH, I could close this, but it's not really doing any harm...

I don't think you can "safely say" any such thing, Craig. I hope that they will consider doing this, but it's by no means a given, is it..?

I don't think it reprises anything, it just begins with a wide shot of Troughton on the floor and carries on from there.

Not a problem - it's probably a good idea to post links rather than embed as a rule though, even for smaller pictures, especially as there is no Spoiler code here to hide the images.

Can't help thinking if it was made for the BBC they would have to give their permission for it to be used as clips. So how secret could it be ? Perdhaps it's what they did first before they were given The Reign of Terror. By the way I love the DVD cover, but what on earth has it done to the whole of page 3 of this thread when you view it on an iPad ? The pictures giant and the rest of the text is microscopic ? It's because the DVD cover image as enormous, so the page width had to increase to accommodate it. This is why embedding images is often banned on some forums. Fixed now.

Nice work, Will - might be an idea to have a link to a list of episodes that are missing, so that the hypothetical guy with a pile of film cans in his shed can check what he has.

The Lesterson animation clip is a VERY intriguing development. A couple of months back, a rumour started (allegedly by Anneke Wills) that Power of the Daleks had been returned complete. I immediately dismissed this as unlikely in the extreme, given that only two prints ever existed and one is those was reportedly destroyed. The rumour was subsequently debunked by people who ought to know. Dan Hall has gone on record stating that budget limitations preclude animating more than two missing episodes for any given story. Possibly, given the significance of Power as both the first post-regeneration story in the series' history and Pat Troughton's debut, it might have been decided to bend this self-imposed rule for the 50th anniversary and stretch it to three or possibly four episodes of animation... But Power has six episodes so I'm sure we can rule that out too. My other thought was maybe they would consider animating just the first episode of Power and packaging that with a Tenth Planet release to cover the complete regeneration. That theory doesn't hold up either as the Lesterson clip appears to be from a later episode where he finally realises the enormity of what he has done. So based on all we know as fact, what can be the justification behind animating any of episodes of Power? You'll just have to draw your own conclusions. There is of course another option, that Power has been/or will be remade by CBBC. I realise its unlikely but worth flagging. But if it had been remade, why would Anneke be party to this..?
