I never get bored of reading material about this, and I'm sure it will be presented as brilliantly as the other specials. It will help widen the message too. True, but problem is, it'll be preaching to the converted. It's likely people who have zero interest in DW that I think are more likely to be unaware they may be sitting on lost material. Either way, I look forward to buying and reading it.

I'm still hoping for further telesnap discoveries. It would be great to uncover ones for The Massacre, The Celestial Toymaker and, of course, The Dalek's Masterplan. As I understand it, John Wiles didn't like telesnaps so none were ordered for the stories he produced. Of course, individual crew members could have ordered their own set.

Does anyone know if anything new has been discovered?

Actually, most of the telesnaps are sharp and in good condition and would stand up to some enlargement. Many of the ones on the BBC website have gone through some rather unsympathetic processing, which means they don't look too clever - some of the photos from The Enemy of the World are particularly bad. So this special has newly scanned versions? Could the BBC upgrade their website?

Does anyone know if anything new has been discovered? There are tons of crazy rumors, most are probably hoaxes, others could just be simple misunderstandings, but nothing has been confirmed. Paul Vanezis also says nothing has been returned, so there is nothing to get excited about.

I think felix meant simply if any more telesnaps have been returned. :3 Which I doubt.

I scanned and cleaned up their telesnaps many years ago, which I believe they then started using fairly late on in their telesnap run (I can't remember exactly when). If they simply use the work that I did then you should see some improvement on the original runs.
It was a long time ago, though - before the BBC started publishing them on their web site - so they may well have done better work on them since. If I had to give any advice it would be to clean the originals up with some suitable solvent first before trying to clean them up electronically!

Many of the ones on the BBC website have gone through some rather unsympathetic processing.... That's a pretty generous way to put it.

This special edition of DWM is published on Thursday (21 March), and as well as telesnaps for the missing episodes of Marco Polo, The Crusade, The Savages, The Smugglers and The Tenth Planet, the magazine features an introduction article from Jonathan Morris, and an article about John Cura – the man who took the telesnaps – written by Richard Bignell.
I particularly hope that the users of this forum enjoy the magazine.

It would lovely to see them all published together especially in the anniversary year, so thank you so much for doing this. It will be greatly appreciated!! And if the NATEOTL2 article is anything to go by I'm sure Bignell's Cura article will be a very interesting read.

Out of interest, and probably a question for Bignell, am I right in thinking that telesnaps were taken of DMP (bar episode 7) but they have been lost? Possibly when Mrs Cura had a clear-out? Which means the only 'off screen' images we have of DMP at all are the few Robert Jewell took? I don't suppose any of these are going to be published?

No, there's no record whatsoever of any telesnaps being taken from The Daleks' Master Plan or any other stories during Wiles' producership.
The only episode that for which we don't have the telesnaps but any evidence that they were originally taken is Marco Polo #4.
