While every telesnap is an off-air photo, not every off-air photo is a telesnap.

The one thing that Im surprised about is that we had 3 or 4 people recording the audios in the 60s but very few if any consistantly taking pictures off air. Even if someone did a 36 exposure camera once a week we'd have some more telesnaps. What would have been golden, ifsomeone had a 8mm camera time releasing a picture every second Based on 3600 frames on a super 8 home movie, if one took one frame a second one would have apx 1500 telesnaps an episode with a film cartridge lasting 2 1/2 episodes. Probbaly because telesnaps had less "re use" value for the 1960s fan .. with the audios, the storyline is preserved and can be enjoyed again and again -whereas photos, while of interest, don't really capture the story in the same way.

Is the man in this image Antony Jones who, alongside Dallas Jones, discovered the Marco Polo/Aztecs images? If not can anyone tell me where I can find the documentary that is under the heading 'Late February 1985 - Willessee' on this website: www.millenniumeffect.co.uk/video/wotv/index2.htmlAttachments:

I think I have to disagree about the usefulness of photos. Things were different in the past.It seemed as though there was one book on Bettie Davis a pocket-sized The Films of Bettie Davis),one book about Bogart (a pocket-sized The Films of Humphrey Bogart),you get the idea. While there were a few annuals about, and lots of pictures of Daleks, you'd have been hard-pressed before the late 60s to find a photo from a story like The Aztecs,I susose some poor devils would have cut out the mini photos in the Radio Times. Remember, television shows were ephemeral. You HAD to be there on Saturday evening-no toilet break-or you'd missed the episode forever,as far as we knew.Any photos to maintain those memories would have been welcome. I'd go so far as to suggest that for a period,up until the fans got organised and Doctor Who Magazine got started, the 1960s stories, like ITMA twenty years before really existed only in the minds of those who'd seen it.You could tell someone about the early Cybermen ,but you couldn't show them. Of course,I didn't hear the audios until the 90s!

I was also wondering if one of the men in the photographs on this website is the Dicky Howett who was the DWM cartoonist who took the three off-air Daleks images? I think you've answered your own question...

Thanks Jon. In all the images of them is Howett the man on the left?

Thanks Jon. In all the images of them is Howett the man on the left? Howett, who was the artist, is the blond-haired man.

Thanks Jon. Do you know anything about the image that may be of Antony Howe? No idea.... I think Howe is the guy with the moustache at far left in that b/w photo you found on Dallas Jones's page - the photo with the END OF DR WHO DALEK FOR HIRE placard.

I'm amused by the way this thread has deteriorated from being about pictures of Doctor Who off the telly in the 60s to being about pictures of the people who took pictures of Doctor Who off the telly in the 60s.

Who is this Rob Moss person? Is he the guy that commented on the people who took pictures of Doctor Who off the telly in the 60s and not about pictures of Doctor Who off the telly in the 60s?

I think 'deteriorated' is not the right word. Yes this thread has changing in topic but the people who took the pictures are just as important. I am just interested in finding out everything about the topic.
