A b/w VT clip of The Who from this series (Pinball Wizzard) definitely exists Released officially. There is a story, that the original color copy was "lost" somewhere by Daltrey and Townshend. For DVD release Time-Life company was forced to use black and white working material. 23.02.69 with The Bee Gees, Tim Conway, Tammy Jones, Lynn Redgrave, Sergio Mendes 30.03.69 with Chet Atkins, Barbara Eden, Salena Jones, Jerry Lee Lewis, Rich Little (missing) 11.10.70 with The Mike Sammes Singers, The Norman Maen Dancers, Sue & Sonny, Blood, Sweat and Tears, Diahann Carroll, Bob Darin Released offically in color.
The Who footage does exist in colour. I have no idea why this wasn't used on the box set. Perhaps they were unaware of it.

Right.......... Now we have established the 20/04/1969 tx Who version exists in colour (the monochrome Who that is commonly seen being a copy tape of the colour), it would be rather awesome to locate a black and white DIFFERENT version of any part of this show (the 405 version, not the 625) and link it here.... Ladies and gentlemen, presenting Mirielle Mathieu in glorious 405 monochrome.... www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_hs3gP_Gxk""Missing or incomplete episodes for programme THIS IS... TOM JONES. Series 1 20.04.69 with Fran Jeffries, Mirielle Mathieu, Pat Paulsen, The Who (missing)"" This is the colour which is not missing:- www.youtube.com/watch?v=59Quc4r-INYPlease note the slightly different camera angles....

Once again Ray 405 lines was not used on this show. Exports to France and Germany etc would have required 625 lines. The Mirielle Mathew clip is a probably a telerecording presumably from the Pal tape? If old 405 line equipment had been used there would have been black halos everytime Miss Mathieu's dress sparkled. The Tom Jones show used the glorious PC60 cameras..I don't think they were capable of 405 lines, just 525/625....but you might know different Ray?

The camera angles looked different here though. We've ascertained that the Julie Driscoll and Hollies performances (the latter due to Tim Disney exist. I want to find more though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are bits and pieces all over the place. Right episode though. I believe that the listings, as to what's missing, is not correct, but that's just my hunch. At the moment, yes, these qualify as finds, I'd say.

In addition to that b/w Hollies copy, there is also a colour VT version on the same page which is introduced by Jones himself, Mike! I've heard it said that two versions of this series were made (b/w 405 line for UK and colour 525 for the US), each with slightly different camera shots. As most of the clips i've seen from series 1 (but not all) are in colour, maybe the surviving copies are the US versions? This would explain Kal listing the first series as non-existent (i.e. the UK versions are generally missing). Sometimes two completely different performances were filmed, not just the same performance from different angles. This is definitely true of Dusty Springfield's first appearance(s) on the show, performing 'Son Of A Preacher Man' - I have both of them on video. It's also true for Jerry Lee Lewis' appearance on the show (I have the UK broadcast on audio only, & it's considerably different from the USA version).
I wonder if this practice stopped once the UK went over to colour in September(?) 1969?

It was filmed once in monochrome and the next day a reshoot took place in colour. The practice stopped after series 1.
