Found this Hollies clip on you tube. The woman who posted it says it is either from Ready Steady Go or This is Tom Jones. I know it cant be RSG because that programme had ended before this song was released. According to lost shows.com the first series of This is Tom Jones is missing. www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_profilepage&v=gvMZh7TjeGI

A lot of "This Is Tom Jones" actually exists in Tom Jones own archive. How much I don't know but I DO know that this show:
21.12.69 with The Mike Sammes Singers, The Norman Maen Dancers, Sue & Sonny, Shecky Green, Matt Monro, The Moody Blues, Connie Stevens (missing)
is in Tom Jones archive in the USA as he sent the Matt Monro estate a copy direct from a colour master - although it might be an NTSC copy (the DVD sent was NTSC).
(I did notify Chris about this more than a year ago about this, and another show listed as missing on lost shows - the US version of "The Big Show" called "Showtime" which does exist complete, but these changes haven't been made on the database as yet)

Who holds the Big Show Richard? ITV say they don't.
I've been unable to verify the Tom Jones appearance with them, but if you say you've seen the whole show that's good enough for me, I've changed it now. It was the whole show?

In addition to that b/w Hollies copy, there is also a colour VT version on the same page which is introduced by Jones himself, Mike!
This Is Tom Jones is a bit of a grey area archivally. I always assumed that series 1 was b/w (being prior to the start of colour on ITV on 15/11/69) and a '90s compilation edition screened by BBC-2 indeed features b/w VT material including a clip of Tom with Ella Fitzgerald. A b/w VT clip of The Who from this series (Pinball Wizzard) definitely exists, as it's commonly circulated. I think a few other bits as well. The problem with the Lost Shows listing format is that you can't work out which episodes DO exist in between all the missing ones if you are looking purely at dates.
I've heard it said that two versions of this series were made (b/w 405 line for UK and colour 525 for the US), each with slightly different camera shots. As most of the clips i've seen from series 1 (but not all) are in colour, maybe the surviving copies are the US versions? This would explain Kal listing the first series as non-existent (i.e. the UK versions are generally missing).
There has been a DVD compilation set of the series released (letterboxed, I believe) and I think that Jones owns the rights to the US versions. The set features a lot of the guests listed too. Can anyone who has this say if all the material is in colour or not? If not, i'd be interested to know what b/w material is included.
Perhaps Chris Perry can comment on this one as well? This Is Tom Jones is a bit of a mystery.

A total mixed bag of what survives of TITJ.
color NTSC VT, colour PAL VT, Colour Telerecording and B/W telerecording but AFAIK no B/W VT has ever surfaced.
The American release of the DVD had some performances where you could switch between PAL and NTSC camera positions, if I recall correctly.

There is b/w VT, Peter. As I said above, the BBC-2 compilation showed clips in this format in their compilation.

I have the first box set which indeed does include Ntsc/625 alternate versions - the set seems to be region free. there seems to be confusion of what exists. The Bee Gees featured show for example is listed as missing 23.02.69 with The Bee Gees, Tim Conway, Tammy Jones, Lynn Redgrave, Sergio Mendes (missing Yet here it appears to exist The Bee Gees - black and white copy www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPcv7GXZ-DISergio Mendes & Brasil '66 + Tom Jones - Mas Que Nada and in colour!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=3oAX1LWLoTs30.03.69 with Chet Atkins, Barbara Eden, Salena Jones, Jerry Lee Lewis, Rich Little (missing) Barbara Eden www.youtube.com/watch?v=521zScWfr6o1970 series11.10.70 with The Mike Sammes Singers, The Norman Maen Dancers, Sue & Sonny, Blood, Sweat and Tears, Diahann Carroll, Bob Darin (missing) Diahann Carroll - colour www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCCGxws6pJ4&feature=fvstIt seems there is a lot of material residing in the states Gives you hope for the likes of "Piccadilly palace" and "Spotlight" Interesting listing for Piccadilly Palace : ctva.biz/UK/ITC/PiccadillyPalace.htm

Our holdings, which were researched back in the mid 1990s, were looking at UK vaults. ITC in USA may have had loads and loads or indeed Tom Jones himself. Hard to know now, Tom has it all, could be he has inserts only in some cases. Until a defintive list emerges, who knows. We also have Beta Sp tapes on our system with VTR numbers but no idea when they were shown, sorry we can't be clearer.

Hi, Yes Tom Jone's organisation sent the complete show. - We were given the impression that the whole lot exist in the Jones archives, but can't verify this.
The Big Show exists in it's US edit called "Showtime" Which as far as I can tell is the exact same show, but with different credits. Shelly Berman own's a B/W telerecording of the show personally and ITN Source say that they have a print too (the show is Production ID: ENT1480/0003). Our copy is from Berman and I can't currently find the e-mail ITN sent me regarding the ITN print. But if memory serves me correctly they said they had not transfered the print to tape and the cost of transfer was too much for us to pay considering we already had a passable copy of Berman's print.

A b/w VT clip of The Who from this series (Pinball Wizzard) definitely exists Released officially. There is a story, that the original color copy was "lost" somewhere by Daltrey and Townshend. For DVD release Time-Life company was forced to use black and white working material. 23.02.69 with The Bee Gees, Tim Conway, Tammy Jones, Lynn Redgrave, Sergio Mendes 30.03.69 with Chet Atkins, Barbara Eden, Salena Jones, Jerry Lee Lewis, Rich Little (missing) 11.10.70 with The Mike Sammes Singers, The Norman Maen Dancers, Sue & Sonny, Blood, Sweat and Tears, Diahann Carroll, Bob Darin Released offically in color.

What's really interesting it's The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown appearance. Unfortunately, in ITN database this episode not listed.
This Is Tom Jones (possibly Taped in London) 14Mar1969 ABC Fri (rerun 21Aug69)
Tom sings, "Little Green Apples", "Work Song", "Sixteen Tons", Mary sings "The Puppy Song". Georgia sings "If You Go Away". Paul sings, "This Has Got to Be the Life" and "Goodnight, My Love". Crazy World of Arthur Brown performs "Fire". Tom and Paul do a medley of "Mack the Knife", "He's Got the Whole World In His Hands", "When the Saints Go Marching In", "What'd I Say?", "Oh, Lonesome Me" and "Jambalaya".
