But those 16mm prints had to have been made for some country some where, so there is always hope that we get more season 2 episodes returned. Chances are, telerecordings would have been made as a matter of course with a view to selling the series. If no one bought the series, then any prints already struck would likely have stayed "on the shelf".

Doomwatch also appears to be a lost cause as well due to only one country buying season 3 Anyone interested in Doomwatch I can recommend this website: www.doomwatch.org; it even has its own Missing Episodes section.

I actually contributed to that site a year or so back with regard to the CBC stations that aired Doomwatch back then.

I don't think AAL was sold that widely overseas - if at all. We didn't get it in NZ, and I certainly never saw any listings for it in any of the foreign newspapers I accessed when I was researching the DW airdates. If Australia didn't get it either, that pretty much rules out sales to any Commonwealth countries. But those 16mm prints had to have been made for some country some where, so there is always hope that we get more season 2 episodes returned. I don't think I ever have seen a listing of foreign sales for AAL. I remember reading about foreign sales for Out of the Unknown some where but I cant remember what country's bought it. Doomwatch also appears to be a lost cause as well due to only one country buying season 3 Who knows, something may be lurking on a shelf somewhere in Zambia. Let's hope It's on PM's itinerary.

With the exception of two episodes of Doomwatch from season 1 which were sold to Canada one of which was not transmitted I dont think S1 sold any where in the world. S2 sold to Australia in black and white and S2 sold to Jamacia in NTSC. S3 went to Zambia in black and white.
Ads for AAL If they made the telerecordings of S1 and they failed to sell to a single buyer I would assume they would not continue with S2 but as both series were recorded and several AALs have been recovered over the years I think its safe to say that some one bought the show some where in the world, we just need to find out where. Sadly Jon P, has not seen it in any of his searches and only found a few listings for Doomwatch the list of buyers may be very small indeed.

Actually, I never saw any listings for Doomwatch either, not even Jamaica.
The only BBC SF drama that I did spot a number of listings for were the two Andromeda serials and The Big Pull.
I also didn't see any listings for things like the Out of the Unknown / Out of this World, Ace of Wands.
ITV programmes were very common, so lots of Rigg / Thorson Avengers (none of the earlier ones, though), Prisoner, The Saint, Gerry Anderson, other ITC stuff. Very common.

I stand corrected I have seen an Australian press curing for Doom watch. I had assumed it was on your site but I could be wrong and it must have been the Doom watch site.
For The Avengers the only TV listing I saw was the one I sent you a few weeks ago from CBC-TV near Montreal, Quebec, Ontario and upstate new York featuring Honor Blackmon

Other than Australia and the other few countries already named, Doomwatch wasn't shown at least not as far as I could tell.
Mind you, I did stop looking at listings once I found all the DW eps; Doomwatch *may* have aired elsewhere in the mid/late 1970s, but certainly not in Hong Kong, Singapore or Gibraltar, three of the places one would expect it to have aired.

I did hear a convincing story of one A for A episode being in private hands - in the US in fact. Fingers crossed that one day it turns up, but that wouldn't be for many years if what I heard was correct.

I'll admit it's over when they're all back. Until then, there is always potential. But don't let it play on your head too much, there are people out there looking for us. If you feel so strongly about it, go looking for them yourselves. I would love to.

Private collectors are very secretive, so i think this searching in reality could be a very long process indeed
